The DOL’s (Department Of Labor) new overtime rules have made few things pretty clear regarding the overtime pay by simplifying the exempted & non-exempted criteria. Now, any worker who has annual salary above $47,476 will be considered exempted from the overtime pay.

But no doubt, it will have a huge impact on small & mid-sized companies, as they form the major employment generating segment, employing more than 50 million workers in U.S. According to Economic Policy Institute (EPI), when this rule comes into action, more than 8 million employees will come under overtime pay umbrella. Thus, with such large number of workers getting affected, the impact of new legislation cannot be overlooked. Therefore, from payroll to major policies, small & mid-sized employers need to re-evaluate all of them meticulously.
