Esta es una charla que da Stephen Downes en Nueva Zelanda el año 2006. Bastante larga y distendida. El núcleo de la exposición es esta diferencia entre grupos y redes. Grupos es el formato en que hemos venido viviendo; redes es esta nueva estructura que la red de redes permite, la Internet. Las tecnologías en que hemos vivido están hechas para alimentar grupos, homogeneos, unitarios, como son los "mass media" como la TV, la radio, los diarios, incluso los libros. En los grupos existen los líderes, en las redes no. En los grupos la idea es construir la homogeneidad, la coherencia del grupo, el poder de la unidad (el grupo unido jamás será vencido).
