46 Tools To Make Infographics In The Classroom

46 Tools To Make Infographics In The Classroom | Technology Tools and News | Scoop.it

"Infographics are interesting–a mash of (hopefully) easily-consumed visuals (so, symbols, shapes, and images) and added relevant character-based data (so, numbers, words, and brief sentences).

The learning application for them is clear, with many academic standards–including the Common Core standards–requiring teachers to use a variety of media forms, charts, and other data for both information reading as well as general fluency."

Personalize Learning: 10 Predictions for Personalized Learning for 2013

Personalize Learning: 10 Predictions for Personalized Learning for 2013 | Technology Tools and News | Scoop.it

Teachers and learners of all ages are connecting more than ever. In 2013, we will see teachers expanding their Personal Learning Networks (PLN) using social media. They will be telling more stories and sharing their journeys as they personalize learning. Learners will be using mobile devices for learning in and out of school. We will be seeing learners involved in more global collaborative projects in 2013.

Helena Capela's curator insight, March 16, 2013 6:02 AM

I agree with the author. To create with technology and do it creatively is more important than simply use it. Balance and know how to do it is also important.

Jarrod Johnson's curator insight, March 16, 2013 11:37 AM

Although the heading is misleading, the author has brought up some good points. Most teachers go through three phases:

1. Excitement to try out new technological gimmicks in the classroom.

2. Discouragement after the gimmick no longer interests the students.

3. Integration of effective technology to enhance the student's learning.

The comments are also a great read and echo this sentiment.

Because of the usefulness and versatility, PowerPoint has gained popularity and become a top brand of various presentation programs for institutions, individuals and organizations.

It is indeed useful in making a presentation a successful one. Educational Technology and Mobile Learning: Awesome Poster on Bloom's Revised Taxonomy

Educational Technology and Mobile Learning: Awesome Poster on Bloom's Revised Taxonomy | Technology Tools and News | Scoop.it

Med Kharback:

I just got this poster from a fellow teacher featuring the 6 thinking skills as outlined in the revised taxonomy. As you probably know, Blooms taxonomy that was first created in the 1950s has been revised by Krathwohl and there are two  main changes that appeared in this revised taxonomy: the first one is semantic in that nouns are now being replaced with verbs; and the second change relates to the order of these thinking skills. In the old taxonomy, Bloom highlighted the importance of evaluating and therefore placed it at the top of the  thinking continuum, but for Krathwohl Creating is the highest order thinking skill.

How Technology Can Change Assessment

How Technology Can Change Assessment | Technology Tools and News | Scoop.it

Many discussions of technology-based assessments concentrate on automating current methods of testing to save time and cost. However, technology also changes what educators can assess, how and when to assess it, and for what purpose. Assessments can be embedded in ICTs, and have the potential to measure learning processes, in addition to end-of-lesson knowledge.
