My Favorite No: Learning From Mistakes | Technology to Teach | Scoop.it
Discover a new classroom routine to help clarify concepts. This 8th grade Math class uses a quick warm-up to clarify certain Math concepts and get students in the right framework for the lesson to come. My Favorite No.
Amy Burns's insight:

What a powerful technique to use....anonymous sharing of answers and then an analysis of what is not correct.  Shows students have a deeper understanding of a concept if they can explain why an example is wrong.  Although the example in this video deals with math, the same procedure could apply to other curricular areas.

Amy Burns's insight:

Furniture, lighting, temperature as key pieces of establishing a learning friendly environment.  The chairs are Nodes(http://www.steelcase.com/en/products/category/educational/seating/node/pages/node.aspx), which I can tell you from experience, are some of the best pieces of furniture for education today.  They allow backpacks/books to be tucked underneath the chair, eliminating the trip hazard, and most importantly, are MOBILE.  More and more research is telling us that kids need more movement in their day to help them learn.  Yes, the Node chair spins, but I found that most students got it out of their system the first time they sat in one, and from that point on, they were ok.  Students with a natural inclination to fidget were able to gently rock or twist, expending excess energy and allowing them to concentrate.  No, I am not connected to the company that makes these chairs, I just had the privilege of having a classroom of innovative, 21st Century furnishings and tools!.
