How to install iOS 8.1 on your iPhone and iPad — Even if you're low on storage! | Technology to consider | Scoop.it
iOS 8.1 will run on iPhone 4s and newer, iPad 2 and newer, and iPod touch 5. If you have enough available storage space on your device, you can install it using Software Update. If you're already running iOS 8, storage shouldn't be a problem. If you're still on iOS 7, you'll have to pay closer attention and may need to update using iTunes instead.

I know that storage runs low as we use our iPads and iPhones more and more as cameras and download more and more apps.  Now maybe I don't have to spend time deciding which apps and pictures to delete just so I can upgrade to the latest iOS. Just hook up to iTunes on your computer.  It's so simple I forgot I could do it!

Since it is a less radical departure from what students and parents expect, there’s less stress and uncertainty. If you fear that students may not have access to video lectures or get distracted from learning while on their own time, then teacher resources and equipment available in most schools solve this logistics problem. Wealth and home situation do not become a barrier to learning.

Why (And How) To Start Teaching Coding In School - Edudemic

Why (And How) To Start Teaching Coding In School - Edudemic | Technology to consider | Scoop.it

"Fueled by an incredible demand in the workforce for proficient programmers and the need to teach critical thinking skills, the coding movement in schools has exploded. Furthermore, we all communicate through technology, so we should at least know the basic premise of coding because the gadget sitting in our pocket, or on our desk, should not be a mysterious black box to us or our students. Just like writing, multimedia, art, and music are mediums to show ideas, coding can be another form of expression.``

Flipped learning skepticism: Do students want to have lectures?

Flipped learning skepticism: Do students want to have lectures? | Technology to consider | Scoop.it

Which is harder, hearing about something or doing something? And if doing something is harder than hearing, wouldn’t students want to do their work with an instructor and a group of friends present to help, rather than hear about it with the instructor present and then be left to their own devices for the doing part? Wouldn’t it be better if you were doing the hardest part of the work when I am most likely to be able to help you?

Ramblings of a Modern Learner: Learning to Sketchnote | Technology to consider | Scoop.it

"This summer, I was introduced to sketchnoting and challenged to incorporate  the concept of sketchnoting as a means of note taking.  Sketchnoting is the process of creating a personal visual story while listening, reading, or recording an experience as it happens or on a later date.

Sketchnoting brings in a variety of cognitive processes, increasing the connection between speaker and listener due to the engagement needed to listen intently while synthesizing the spoken word into drawings and short narratives.  I decided to to take the challenge seriously."
