Can long-term global growth be saved? | McKinsey & Company

Can long-term global growth be saved? | McKinsey & Company | A Worldly Look | Scoop.it

Without action, global economic growth will almost halve in the next 50 years. A new McKinsey Global Institute report offers a solution: a dramatic improvement in productivity. A McKinsey Global Institute article. Over the past 50 years, global economic growth was exceptionally rapid. The world economy expanded sixfold. Average per capita income almost tripled. Hundreds of millions of people were lifted out of poverty. Yet unless we can dramatically improve productivity, the next half century will look very different. The rapid expansion of the past five decades will be seen as an aberration of history, and the world economy will slide back toward its relatively sluggish long-term growth rate

This is a great article brought to my attention by Craig Cardimon. As someone who knows she is "learning different", and as someone who is about to embark on a new learning odyssey starting next week into a topic she knows next to nothing about, this article rings true for me. I think this is true of any learner, both child but especially adult learners. This is important to keep in mind whether the learning is done as e-learning/m-learning, or done by conventional means. Take a look, and tell me what you think. --techcommgeekmom

Inside The Internet Underground - Esquire

Inside The Internet Underground - Esquire | A Worldly Look | Scoop.it

As the struggle intensifies between those who would limit access to information and those who believe the internet should remain entirely unregulated, the cyber war has gone offline: in bedrooms and boardrooms, in the streets, in court, even in prison, hackers, trolls and associated free speech activists are fighting against governments and corporations over the digital world’s greatest resource: data. Esquire went inside the Internet Underground – Anonymous, LulzSec and other groups of pranksters and protesters – to find that as the authorities harden their stance, the hackers are regrouping, wounded but defiant. And the battle has only just started.
