OPINION: Why We Are Misunderstanding the Chromebook iPad Debate (EdSurge News) | Technology News | Scoop.it
Stop me if you have heard this argument before. We have decided to buy Chromebooks for our students because they do 90% of what students can do on a typical computer at 1/3 the cost.
Darlene Clapham K12's insight:
I thought this was a good article to share. Essentially, iPads and Chromebooks should not be compared and are not alike. Both have their strengths. Both have excellent value for teaching and learning.

FEATURE: Top 10 Tips for Green Screen by Do Ink | Ipad Educators

FEATURE: Top 10 Tips for Green Screen by Do Ink | Ipad Educators | Technology News | Scoop.it
I've been using green screen software with students since about 2004. In fact I'll always remember filming a student dressed as a superhero about ten years ago and struggling with the lighting. Luckily a Channel 4 film crew were with us (making a film about us making films!) and used their professional setups to sort us out.

Times have changed though and these days a genuinely decent green screen effect can be accomplished in a school setting without the need for any professional gear. The one thing you will need though is the single best green screen app ever produced:

Wi-Fi Alliance announces 802.11ah HaLow technology for connected cars

Wi-Fi Alliance announces 802.11ah HaLow technology for connected cars | Technology News | Scoop.it
“The Wi-Fi Alliance has introduced a designation for the IEEE 802.11ah frequency called HaLow. It operates in low frequency bands for longer range and lower power usage. It is meant for use needs with longer-range capability such as Smart Home, Smart City, and connected car applications.”
Via Ronald Bannon MBA, C.Adm., FCMC
more...
Ronald Bannon MBA, C.Adm., FCMC's curator insight, January 10, 11:08 AM

Wi-Fi HaLow extends into the 900 MHz band and was originally designed for wearables and low-power sensors. With a range nearly twice that of standard Wi-Fi, connections with HaLow are generally more robust in challenging environments where physical and electronic impediments such as walls and other electronics are obstacles. This would include building walls, car and truck bodies, thick clothing (including kevlar and other advanced fibers), and multiples of the same.
