As the world economy shifts away from manufacturing jobs and towards service industry and creative jobs, there’s a consensus among parents, educators, politicians and business leaders that it is crucial students graduate into university or the workforce with the ability to identify and solve complex problems, think critically about information, work effectively in teams and communicate clearly about their thinking.
I've been using green screen software with students since about 2004. In fact I'll always remember filming a student dressed as a superhero about ten years ago and struggling with the lighting. Luckily a Channel 4 film crew were with us (making a film about us making films!) and used their professional setups to sort us out.
Times have changed though and these days a genuinely decent green screen effect can be accomplished in a school setting without the need for any professional gear. The one thing you will need though is the single best green screen app ever produced:
"As an inquiry based school, Anastasis students (and teachers) spend a LOT of time researching. Our students essentially build their own living curriculum as they follow a line of inquiry. Below are my very favorite research tools for students ..."

One of the things I've been playing around with is finding ways to incorporate tag clouds in my e-learning courses. Why tag clouds? Because they're a great way to visually communicate key points and concepts.
The TIM associates five levels of technology integration (i.e., entry, adoption, adaptation, infusion, and transformation) with each of the five characteristics of meaningful learning environments. Together, the five levels of technology integration and the five characteristics of meaningful learning environments create a matrix of 25 cells as illustrated below.
While classroom education continues to focus on academics, there is too-little emphasis on healthy emotional development in an era where we need it more than ever before. In fact, the State of the Heart 2016 study found that emotional intelligence continues to decline globally. What’s more, since 2014, there has been a decline in maintaining emotional balance (-3.3 percent), self-motivation (-2.9 percent), and connecting compassionately with others (-2.4 percent). The numbers don’t lie, it’s clear that if we want to live in a more compassionate world, then society needs to place a higher emphasis on emotional development.
Martinis outlines how he's building his qubit computer and what it can do
Darlene Clapham K12's insight:
Quantum computing is going to be revolutionary. The speed of processing using qubits will redefine industries such as medical/health. Genetics, drug therapy, cures, and treatments are areas of research that will reap the rewards of Quantum processing. The next 10 years will be an exciting decade of computing. There is no better time to introduce coding to our students. ABC's are the foundation of Literacy, coding is the foundation of technology and now we have technology and physics coming together in a way that we cannot yet imagine. Although I don't fully understand Quantum computing, I can foresee the job prospects and opportunities for students who are interested in tech. The opportunities are unlimited! Exciting or scary? The answer depends on your outlook.
