Mindset Blog: Tips for Creating a Google Apps Script/SAP Mashup

" We recently submitted our product CloudShuttle to the Chrome web store for Google Sheets add-ons. Am I tired? Yes. Did I spend a few too many late nights in front of a code editor? Yes. Would I do it again? One hundred bajillion percent yes. So, having spent the last few month with my head way inside the process to integrate Google docs with an SAP backend through NetWeaver Gateway, I humbly offer a few tips to the blogosphere for anyone wanting to do the same thing. Stop me if you have heard this argument before. We have decided to buy Chromebooks for our students because they do 90% of what students can do on a typical computer at 1/3 the cost.
Darlene Clapham K12's insight:
I thought this was a good article to share. Essentially, iPads and Chromebooks should not be compared and are not alike. Both have their strengths. Both have excellent value for teaching and learning.

No more getting the USB cable the wrong way 50% of the time or worse - if you need a flashlight to get to the back of the computer, like I do.

As the desktop world gets more wireless, the USB 3.1 might become the last cable to keep around the desk. Connecting your smart desk to your smart monitor, or something like that.

It is a power cable that can do 'extra stuff'.

Google Sheets as a Database - INSERT with Apps Script using POST/GET methods (with ajax example)

Back in 2011 I showed how you can use Google Apps Script to write POST/GET data to a Google Sheet. Over the years a couple of things have changed in Apps Script so I thought it was worth a revisit. This version uses features like LockService, PropertiesService and ContentService to make it more robust and make it possible to do ajax powered form submissions. The post includes a couple of tips that appear to be catching people out including versioning and permissions scope.

Excelente vídeo con una clara explicación sobre cómo utilizar la Herramienta para Presentaciones de Google Drive. Simple y una alternativa más a lo ya tradicional.

Arlis Groves's curator insight, July 4, 1:56 PM

Why choose Google Drive's Presentation app over Power Point?  No reason, unless you are collaborating on a presentation.  Since more students are working on projects electronically and from different locations, this could be a great tool.
