The Future Belongs to the Curious: How Are We Bringing Curiosity Into School?

The Future Belongs to the Curious: How Are We Bringing Curiosity Into School? | Technology Integration | Scoop.it

The only rational answer to the conundrum of curiosity is to disengage our educational system from standardized testing and common curricula. Curiosity does not hold up well under intense expectation. Give agency to teachers, with the explicit message to slow down and provide students time to wonder and be curious.

Curiosity projects, MakerSpaces, Passion projects, asking questions and seeking answers...all mind-expanders.

Ivon Prefontaine's curator insight, February 3, 11:51 AM

Children, and for that matter teachers, bring curiousity with them. Teachers can help create contexts where that curiousity remains vibrant.

Report: Ours to Master - how makerspaces can help us master technology for a more human end - RSA

Report: Ours to Master - how makerspaces can help us master technology for a more human end - RSA | Technology Integration | Scoop.it
The central argument of this report is that makerspaces can help people to master technology for a more human end. In practice, this means enabling people to use and understand tools for three purposes: self-fulfilment, learning and enterprise. Making may indeed be a natural human impulse, we argue, but it is also instrumental in achieving wider life goals – a means as well as an end.

There is a delightfully simple premise to National Geographic video's newest series: after seeing scenes from the cultural and physical landscapes of a place can you guess where in the world it is?  You can find more resources about this unnamed country (no cheating) here.

What Is Successful Technology Integration?

What Is Successful Technology Integration? | Technology Integration | Scoop.it

Before we can discuss how to shift our pedagogy or the role of the teacher in a classroom that is integrating technology, it is important to first define what "technology integration" actually means. Seamless integration is when students are not only using technology daily, but have access to a variety of tools that match the task at hand and provide them the opportunity to build a deeper understanding of content.
