64 Varied And Essential iPad Apps For Teachers

64 Varied And Essential iPad Apps For Teachers | Technology in the Classroom | Scoop.it

What exactly makes an app “essential” is open to interpretation. For pure productivity, you could consider the direction of Google Drive, Skype, Zoom Notes, iAnnotate–maybe a gradebook app, Class Dojo, etc.

But what if your classroom if is full of open-ended projects and you need to constantly communicate with students, parents, and the community? Google+, Google Hangouts, Remind, DIY, and maybe Trello?

Technology is an amazing way to differentiate. I would caution us to be thoughtful about what and how we use it. There is no magic pill - use your head and heart when when making decisions.
Lee Hall's curator insight, May 29, 2015 10:29 AM

Some of these are not free, but they are not very expensive either.

I believe in everything you stated in your post about iPads in the classroom, but believe you have to go back one step. If teachers are not provided with the opportunity to engage in professional development classes concerning the use this new teaching technique, the proper use of the technology will never correctly reach the classroom. The desire is not enough..the know-how has to come first.

Corrie Martin's curator insight, January 31, 2015 7:02 PM

Curiously, my daughter's school just made a huge investment in iPads this year ($150,000).  Too soon to tell the long term merit there, but it has increased engagement in educational-social interaction (group projects, shared story writing).
