Digital Education Shifts Strain from Shoulders to Eyes | Technology in Education | Scoop.it
Increased use of classroom technology takes the weight out of backpacks, but puts it on the eyes.
Vanessa Chaparro's insight:

I strongly agree that starring into a screen too much can cause eye problems. I like how the article suggests ways in which teachers who happen to be fortunate to use various technologies in their classrooms should handel the situation. I will definitly keep in mind for when I have my own classroom that students should be kept in a rountine that includes the old fashion manner of teaching. Using a mixture of means to teach students will help to not increase the burden for students to have eye problems.

The U.S. Department of Education is pushing rural schools in Ohio to use more digital resources instead of traditional print, but that transition will be difficult for Athens schools. At a recent forum in Columbus, U.S.
Vanessa Chaparro's insight:

Living in the suburbs, when I think of rural schools, I think of small schools with a small number of children.  Ohio has proven otherwise because its' rural schools are highly populated. The article does make crucial points that it is easier to keep digital books up to date and that students who have the resources available to them learn more than less fortunate kids. In the interest of Ohio's future leaders, I think is is essential for them to incorporate digital technology in their classromms.
