It's even hard to imagine life today without Internet...
Russell R. Roberts, Jr.'s curator insight, August 24, 12:41 AM

Even so, not everyone has uncensored access to this great social tool. There are some places in our world where fear and power rule.  Those of us living outside xenophobic dictatorships are lucky indeed.

Russell R. Roberts, Jr.'s curator insight, August 24, 12:55 AM
I'm not really surprised by this.  Companies, the government, and even foreign powers are interested in the data collected on our smart phones and other digital devices.  Most computers have a "backdoor" allowing snooping by a variety of interested parties. Privacy as a concept is largely dead.  This is the new reality.  Your life isn't your own anymore.  Want more privacy? Then ditch the smartphone, your laptop, your PC/Mac, and the tablet.  Of course, the problem will be solved when the next CME (coronal mass ejection) from the sun "fries" our digital devices with EMP (electromagnetic pulse).  When that happens, we will charge headlong into the 19th century.  Our digital existence is only temporary...so, I guess enjoy it while you can.

Russell R. Roberts, Jr.'s curator insight, August 24, 1:05 AM
Our Olympic champions are going to have a rude surprise when they return home.  That gold, silver, or bronze medal they earned will be taxed.  Why ruin the highpoint of their lives?  I suppose that response just doesn't fit in with the "money is everything" crowd.
