A nice, positive article on Cloud Security from Microsoft for Work.  Despite the optimism expressed by Microsoft's Brad Smith, there have been a few data breaches in this storage medium.  I'm not totally convinced the current cloud platform is secure, but, at this stage, it's a lot better than other digital storage methods I've used.  Improvement will come with time.  Meanwhile, be careful what you store and where you store it.  Ask a lot of questions before you commit to a storage medium.  Aloha, Russ.

Russell R. Roberts, Jr.'s curator insight, October 19, 12:09 AM

The balance between privacy and security is a fine line.  While cell phone manufacturers are moving to sophisticated encryption programs to protect private data, law enforcement agencies are arguing for continued access to cell phone data to fight crime.  Florida seems to have struck a workable compromise by requiring a warrant to tap into a person's cell phone data--something akin to a wiretap, which requires a court warrant.  Privacy issues are a major issue these days.  Aloha, Russ.

Just when you thought it was safe to venture into the "cloud" for your internet storage, this "glitch" appears.  Apple believes the source of the hack is the mainland Chinese government, which is trying to suppress protestors in Hong Kong and elsewhere in China.  These developments suggest that nothing is really private or protected anymore.  Be careful where you store your data.  Nothing is safe these days.  Perhaps, you had best store private documents on paper and place them in a safe deposit box.  All it takes is a few sociopaths to affect millions.  Aloha, Russ.
