I wonder how efficient this is for loading. Convinience is in place if it truly works ;-)

Russell R. Roberts, Jr.'s curator insight, August 15, 12:14 AM

If this charge as you go plan on UK highways works and is cost effective, then electric vehicles may be a logical choice for daily commutes.  The real problem with electric vehicles is limited range and battery charging times.  This system seems to get around those problems.  This could be a game changer.  Aloha, Russ.

Intriguing idea from Google.  All Google has to do is convince smart phone manufacturers to buy into the concept.  Also, Google would have to establish some kind of national repeater network for its cellular service.  Let's keep an eye out for how well this new Mobile Phone Network works in the marketplace.  The price is certainly competitive.  Aloha, Russ

Russell R. Roberts, Jr.'s curator insight, April 10, 3:00 AM

Periscope is a neat and useful product.  It's no wonder that Google has cast its eyes upon it.  It appears likely that Twitter--the microblogging icon of the Internet--will become part of the ever expanding Google family.  One of these days, Google and Apple will own most of the apps that allow our efficient use of the Internet. From there, these companies will slowly envelop and digest all competitors. In some distant time, Google and Apple may try to absorb each other as control of the Internet shifts to companies that manage "Big Data." Who knows?  The world may become the private reserve of Google.  To paraphrase "The Lord of the Rings", one ring to govern them all. That ring could be a Google or Apple app that will us to use the Internet or an app that will exclude us for whatever reason a conglomerate determines.  Let's hope humans will still be managing our information retrieval systems in the future.  Aloha, Russ.

What I think of the Apple Watch after using it for one Week

What I think of the Apple Watch after using it for one Week | Technology in Business Today | Scoop.it
I don't think I can stress this enough: It's a watch.
I say this because people are lumping far too many expectations on to the Apple Watch, a product that’s barely a week old and something few people have had a chance to use.
Russell R. Roberts, Jr.'s curator insight, May 3, 12:03 AM

Incisive, informative review of the new Apple Watch by Steve Kovach (http://www.uk.businessinsider.com).  Simply put, Steve says use the new digital device as it is--a sophisticated wrist watch that has some intriguing and helpful features.  Steve likes the built-in fitness tracker and the ability to receive notifications.  The Apple Watch would make a nice accessory for your iPhone.  Steve says there is one marketing fault which may damper the watch's appeal, besides price ($349-$549 for basic models): Apple :has not done a good job of explaining why you need a smart watch."  I agree.  The Apple Watch is an amazing digital and technological tool, but I can get by without it.  I'd rather spend my small disposable income on food, transportation, and rent.  If you can afford the watch, buy it.  Aloha, Russ.

Superphones Apple's iPhone 6 v Samsung's S6 - which is Best?

Superphones Apple's iPhone 6 v Samsung's S6 - which is Best? | Technology in Business Today | Scoop.it

Russell R. Roberts, Jr.'s curator insight, April 12, 11:09 PM

Nice review by reporter Adrian Weckler of http://www.independent.ie. The smart phone contest really involves only two phones--the Samsung S6 and the iPhone 6 by Apple.  Weckler conducted 7 tests to determine the overall winner.  Based on his review, both phones did rather well:

Screen--Samsung

Camera--Samsung

Battery Life--a tie

Physical Design--a tie

Ecosystem and apps--iPhone

Accessories--iPhone

Payment technology--iPhone.

The iPhone 6 squeaks by the Samsung S6, 3-2, with two categories a dead heat.  So, I guess the choice is up to you.  Both smart phones are well-built, attractive, and useful.

Aloha, Russ.
