Monica S Mcfeeters's insight:

This is my old art making friend Steve Jameson from High School. This shows that high school art and volunteering for every high school art project (the way he and I did) helps us stay into the passion we have for the arts. Glad to find he is doing so well at what I knew he would someday make...great illustrated books! He uses various names other than Steve Jameson that might be why I had a hard time finding him online.

Dan Pink: How Teachers Can Sell Love of Learning to Students | MindShift

Dan Pink: How Teachers Can Sell Love of Learning to Students | MindShift | Technology in Art And Education | Scoop.it

In his new book To Sell is Human, author Daniel Pink reports that education is one of the fastest growing job categories in the country. And with this growth comes the opportunity to change the way educators envision their roles and their classrooms. Guided by findings in educational research and neuroscience, the emphasis on cognitive skills like computation and memorization is evolving to include less tangible, non-cognitive skills, like collaboration and improvisation.

Jobs in education, Pink said in a recent interview, are all about moving other people, changing their behavior, like getting kids to pay attention in class; getting teens to understand they need to look at their future and to therefore study harder. At the center of all this persuasion is selling: educators are sellers of ideas.

Whether a teacher is presenting to her board or pitching a crowd of 12-year-olds on why Shakespeare was a genius, it’s all the art of persuasion. Though his new book has only been out a couple of weeks, Pink said he’s already received many messages from teachers who agree that, “Yes, I sell. I sell students on poetry, on calculus, on biology.”

Draw sketches with animating lines and share replays with friends!

John Dalziel's curator insight, January 14, 2013 1:06 PM

As practitioners I'm sure you will have tried out a number of online drawing tools and explored what they have to offer. If you haven't tried it check out Sketch Toy.
Sketch Toy is a free to use website offering a simple drawing interface but with a unique twist – the lines drawn can be made to appear as various degrees of shaky animations.
The canvas you are given has a texture that highlights this animated effect of shaky lines. The images created can be shared through a direct link. When people visit the link, they see the entire drawing made from start to finish, just like the user created it. Users can also download the image as a PNG file and share it but, of course, the animation effect would is lost.
P.S. the app offers a Chrome app as well.

P.P.S. With screen capture,it can be used to demonstrate maths or Science equations etc.

The title of this article is misleading. It's not academic language that impedes the ability of students in their attempts to learn science, but the student's inability to understand academic language and scientific terminology.
