High-Tech, Low Stress: The Classroom Of The Future
Think back to your days as a student. Do you remember that special teacher who sparked a new interest for you? How about one who motivated you to do your very best?
As we head toward National Teacher Appreciation Day on May 6, here are five ways technology can help empower teachers so they can devote more of their time and energy to student learning.
Let the computer cover the basics – Whether using an online curriculum or “flipping the classroom” with video lectures that students can view outside the classroom, teachers can open up class time for group projects and engaging discussions to help students apply what they’ve learned, and provide for more small group or individualized instruction.
Use real-time data to personalize instruction – Increasingly, teachers are blending their lessons with online curriculum to customize the learning experience for each student in a way that simply hasn’t been possible in the past. This lets teachers more easily empower students who are ready to move ahead, keeping those kids challenged. And for students who are struggling, teachers can help with more one-on-one time so students can make up lost ground.
