Thinking Critically through Digital Media

Thinking Critically through Digital Media | Technology for learning | Scoop.it

In a world where anyone with an internet connection can access, create and share information, opinions and beliefs, it has become increasingly important that students are not only able to assess the credibility of sources but also to look more deeply at the underlying motivations, beliefs and bias of the creator.
Thinking Critically through Digital Media enables teachers to use authentic materials and digital tools combined with motivating communicative tasks to develop students’ abilities to function as critical and well informed digital citizens.

Different Benefits of Educational Technology

Taurus Silver's curator insight, March 20, 7:33 AM

With the advancement in technology, many electronic gadgets are invented and are greatly contributing to education. New technological gadgets are installed in school and proving to be useful in learning. This gadgets allow students to have a better communication in group work and also enable them to study in groups online. All this gadgets effective in teaching method as teachers are able to teach more efficiently and also allow students to revise on their own through the use of internet. Homeworks can also be done and submitted online. Essential information that were initially out of reach are now just a click away from learners.  Students from diverse origins can now connect, learn, and share on a global scale. All this gadgets allow education to be more interesting and more effective and efficient

I believe that in the future, there may be more invention of effective learning gadgets that will better contribute to education. The studying method may also change, where students are able to study at home and finish their work assignments. All this advancement may be possible in the future, this will improve the education method and efficiency. However, with the invention of such gadgets, it is not entirely foolproof as students may abused them and use it fir their own gaming benefits, this will harm them instead. The teachers have to play a role in ensuing that all students are using the gadgets properly, teachers can teach them how to use the gadgets correctly or limit the time spent on them. This will greatly reduce the disadvantages.

Designing a Great Online Student Experience Critical for Sustained Success

Designing a Great Online Student Experience Critical for Sustained Success | Technology for learning | Scoop.it

"Higher education institutions nationwide are looking for ways to expand their reach and serve students not just in their localities but also across their regions and across the country. However, when serving this more distributed audience, it’s critical to design programs that do not demand regular travel or require students to uproot themselves. Online programs allow institutions to do this, but success is not a simple matter. The space is competitive and creating an engaging experience for online students can be in a challenge."
