Pinterest has taken off in the past few months. According to a Shareholic study, it exceeds reddit, Google+, Linkedin, and YouTube as a referral source. It may seem as though everyone you know is Pinning something to the online bulletin boards to share their favorite articles, collections, and items available online.
This is a great social networking tool that you can use for educational purposes, whether you are a teacher or a student.
This tool can make it possible to create boards for specific projects and to collect and share lesson resources.
Nearly two-thirds of IT professionals have admitted that they do not encrypt data stored on portable storage devices.
According to a survey of 106 delegates at IP Expo 2012 by iStorage, 64 per cent admitted to not encrypting data held on portable storage devices, while fewer (than those surveyed in 2011) believed that data loss was a serious concern. (!!!???)

Mission The Association for Authentic, Experiential and Evidence-Based Learning (AAEEBL, pronounced "able") is a non-profit, professional organization for the world eportfolio community. AAEEBL's mission is to deepen learning and to transform institutions with electronic portfolios.
Background ePortfolio community leaders recognized in 2008 that eportfolio, as a technology, and as a body of theory and practice, had emerged as a promising influence and direction for education. They believed in the value of eportfolio for learning, assessment and life-long career success. These leaders envisioned a professional association to serve the emerging field and to underscore the scholarship and implementation of eportfolios for learning. AAEEBL was formed in 2009, anchored in the foundational roots of the eportfolio community. Since its founding, AAEEBL affiliations and collaborations have reached a wide array of initiatives, projects and organizations.
Commitment As the only full-time, year-round professional eportfolio association AAEEBL is committed to serving both educators and the eportfolio industry. AAEEBL services -- conferences, resources, community connections, webinars and a bi-monthly newsletter, to name a few -- are available to the global eportfolio community.
Clear explanation of Certainty Based Marking (sort of advanced negative marking). This option is now available in Moodle but the add-ons designed by Tony Gardner-Medwin at UCL look to be far more accurate and effective.
Perhaps some of the language is a little tricky for my students but I do like the idea that it makes multiple choice questions more effective and therefore more justifiable for their use in other subjects.

Love this great post from the folks at Always Prepared entitled: ‘The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teachers Who Use Technology‘ and the infographic it inspired from Mark Bates. Both highlight “The Habitudes” of educators who are effectively using technology to enhance and impact teaching and learning. Hat tip to Shawn McCusker for this awesome Twitter find!
