Augmented Reality is the digital layering of information overtop of, or in front of, the real world. This content is viewable through a digital device that places it realtime over the real world through the camera. Imagine a pair of eye glasses that could show the Facebook status or most recent Twitter above a person’s head. Augmented Reality browsers are working to make this possible. Via Nik Peachey, Ove Christensen Hochschulen in den USA setzten auf Open Courses. Letzten Mittwoch haben MIT und Harvard die Non-Profit-Organistion gegründet. Ab Herbst sollen hier mit Open Source Technologien kostenlose Online-Kurse (ohne Zulassungsbeschränkung) angeboten werden. In die Organisation investieren die Hochschulen 60 Millionen US Dollar. Die Technologie hinter edX ist die Online Plattform MITx, die bereits im Dezember 2011 online ging. Es ist vorgesehen, dass auch andere Hochschulen über die Plattformen Lernmaterialien anbieten. Dabei sollen nutzer nicht nur Videoaufzeichnungen vorfinden, sondern Materialien, die die Interaktion unterstützen. Für Leistungsbescheinigungen soll eine "geringe Gebühr" fällig werden. Aber: "For those hoping to earn Harvard or MIT credentials, mastering edX classes will not result in certificates from either university. Achievement in edX courses may earn people "a certificate of completion" but it will not have either MIT or Harvard's name on it, according to the release." Personalizing learning for all learners means understanding the different stages of personalized learning environments (PLE). Stage One is teacher-centered with learner voice and choice. This project aims to expand the range of creative experiences for young authors, by presenting AR technology in ways appropriate for this audience.
