Four approaches to teaching and learning languages are presented first in terms of general learning and then with respect to language-specific theories. The resource is relevant to undergraduate and graduate students of foreign languages and/or linguistics and may be used in pre- or in-service training of language teachers at all levels (primary, secondary, university). Major figures and key concepts are presented for each theory, and learning activities are proposed throughout, including illustrations from the second language classroom.
