Linda Kaiser, PhD's curator insight, December 4, 2014 12:26 PM

The best way to learn something is to teach it to someone else.  These students in this article are doing just that.  Those who struggle to learn a new concept have found that teaching it to their peers via a video presentation are learning more deeply than if they were just trying to understand the concepts on their own.

Storyline Online - Video stories reading | Technology and English Language Learning | Scoop.it

Reading to children has been repeatedly shown to improve their reading, writing and communication skills, logical thinking, concentration and general academic aptitude… as well as inspire a love of reading. The Screen Actors Guild Foundation records well-known actors reading children’s books and makes graphically dynamic videos so that children around the world can be read to with just the click of a Storyline Online video book image.

I always appreciate fun ways to teach grammar.  This is one of them. A  possible extension is to have comic strips with the speech bubbles left blank and have students create the dialogues with given phrasal verbs.

You can use this free tool to create timed mutile choice quizzes based around one or more YouTube videos.

BI Media Specialists's curator insight, November 1, 2013 4:12 PM

This is one of my favorite finds this month! You can create trivs (short videos) and then create timed-multiple choice quizzes to do with them. You can also create questions to go with YouTube videos. This would be a great instructional resource for classes with iPads or BYOD policies.
