446 Places for Free Books Online

446 Places for Free Books Online | Technology and Education Resources | Scoop.it

This is a listing of 446 sites that legally offer free books (eBooks) for download or for online viewing.

Some time ago I went looking for some free eBooks and was surprised to find that there are many resources for this. I decided to put together this list of sites that offer free eBooks as a reference. Originally, the list was for 50 sites (hence that number in the link) and I thought that was a lot. I expect that this list will cross 500 sites in the near future. Given the large listing, you may want to check out the various Genre pages that I have put together.

I have tried to make certain that all of the eBooks at these sites are legally available for viewing/downloading. However, it is possible that I have made a mistake. If you suspect any of these sites of illegally offering copyrighted materials, then please let me know through the comments below.

Hayes: Zais’ SC teacher pay plan unfair, counterproductive - Editorial Columns - TheState.com

Clarification and correction: State Education Superintendent Mick Zais supports linking teacher pay to student performance, and he has proposed a plan to evaluate teachers based on test scores, but his proposal does not include linking those grades...

S.C. residents,PLEASE call your legislator NOW and let them know "Merit" pay for teachers will destory public education as we know it, and only hurt our economy.  Dr. Zais is going to push this program through without the support of the state school board or any legislators...not to mention the teachers or parents.

10 Incredibly Powerful Teaching Tools of the Future

10 Incredibly Powerful Teaching Tools of the Future | Technology and Education Resources | Scoop.it

Utopian visions of learning are tempting, if for no other reason than they absolve us of accountability to create it right now, leading to nebulous romanticizing about how powerful learning could be if we just did more of X and Y.

Anyway, we are all slammed with information every time we go online. What’s the best way to organize it all into at least some reasonable manner? Teachers, students, and admins alike don’t have the time to properly visit every site (except Edudemic of course so they turn to curation tools. Below is a simple list of my favorites.
