Will Intelligent Personal Assistants Replace Websites?

Will Intelligent Personal Assistants Replace Websites? | Technology and Education | Scoop.it

"Intelligent Personal Assistants (IPAs) are capable of radically disrupting the way we search for and consume information on the Internet. The convergence of several trends and technologies has resulted in a new interface through which people will be able to interact with your business. This will have a dramatic impact — if your long-term marketing/business plan doesn't account for IPAs, you may be in the same boat as those people who said they didn't need a website in the early 2000s."

16 skills students need to learn today to thrive tomorrow | Technology and Education | Scoop.it
The gap between the skills people learn and the skills people need is becoming more obvious, as traditional learning falls short of equipping students with the knowledge they need to thrive, according to the World Economic Forum report New Vision for Education: Fostering Social and Emotional Learning Through Technology.

Today's job candidates must be able to collaborate, communicate and solve problems – skills developed mainly through social and emotional learning (SEL). Combined with traditional skills, this social and emotional proficiency will equip students to succeed in the evolving digital economy.

Finland's Latest Educational Move Will Produce a Generation of Entrepreneurs - Singularity Hub

Finland's Latest Educational Move Will Produce a Generation of Entrepreneurs - Singularity Hub | Technology and Education | Scoop.it

Linda Buckmaster's curator insight, June 8, 2015 3:00 PM

Recently Finland announced plans to replace traditional school subjects with a topical approach by 2020. Instead of students having a series of classes, like maths or history, they'd study cross-subject topics in groups over the course of a few weeks that include components of many subjects as part of the lessons.

"What we need now is a different kind of education to prepare people for working life," said Pasi Silander, Helsinki's development manager.

Silander said about 70 percent of Finnish high school teachers have already received training in the "phenomenon-based" approach, which began testing two years ago. So far student outcomes have improved and teacher response has been positive.”

The new scheme prepares children for the future with the skills that’s needed for today and tomorrow.  The four C’s skill-oriented instruction: communication, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration—skills that are central to working in teams, a reflection of the 'hyper-connected' world we live in today.

Finland is progressively building the kind of future workforce the country needs—basically, they're preparing a generation of entrepreneurs.

Becoming Innovative: 15 New Ideas Every Teacher Should Try - TeachThought

Becoming Innovative: 15 New Ideas Every Teacher Should Try - TeachThought | Technology and Education | Scoop.it
What are the latest emerging trends in education?

As trends to do, these are changing almost yearly. Consider how quiet iPads in the classroom have been recently, whereas three years ago they were going to replace teachers and were (unsarcastically) compared to magic. While mobile devices like the iPad can indeed parallel a kind of magic in the learning process, it obviously has to ‘fit’ into a progressive supporting ecology of assessment, curriculum, and instruction.

With that in mind, we’ve created a list of 15 (the graphic plus 3 bonus items below) new ideas every teacher should try. Not all will fit or work–again, it depends on the ecology of the classroom, school, and so on. But each of these ideas below–some learning models, some concepts, and some technologies–can be transformational for students, and your teaching.

This really is a good little framework to use as a 'to do' list in future planning. The implicit message is that ICTs alone won't fix your problems, but combine them with innovative teaching approaches and unit structures and fit them to the 'ecology' of your school and class, and you will be getting close!
Hollie Brassington's curator insight, June 3, 6:51 AM
This is a fantastic summary of ways to transform learning - in fact the PBL and Skype examples in combination with the current hot topic in the news about the value and virtues of allrefugees (Karl Stefanovic on WIN Today show)  makes me think I could devise an English  Unit on refugees where students interact through  these digital pedagogical tools  with actual refugees now in Australia to find out their stories and to hear about racial prejudice towards 'boat people', and then write a letter to the editor type assessment dispelling the negativities towards refugees via an online newspaper or blog situation. These could be shared with actual refugees to show them they have the support of Australian citizens....

Despite the fact that the world has become technology dependent, there is still a lot of resistance in the educational world to adapt and conform. While the responsibility of teaching students to use technology safely and effectively seems overwhelming, if teachers are willing to take the time, instruction can be incredibly enriched and students will quickly realize that they have limitless potential at their fingertips.

Jennifer Hincapie's curator insight, May 4, 9:10 PM
This article offers a snapshot of where ed tech stands now and where it is likely to go in the next five years, according to 56 education and technology experts from 22 countries.

The overall of the topic is divided at three different moments. first, we encounter the trends in educatioon among which we can find deeper learning, rethinking learning and collaboration, it means that these  aspects have started to be included in every-day lesson, and educators have been concerned about it more often than before, but when could it be done?

On the other side, we find the challenges as Authentic Learning, Professional Development, and Personalized Learning & Teacher’s Role, so finally how are we going to conceive technlogy in our classrooms over the next five years?, Are we going to be able to overcome all of these chhallenges, and if so, which is going to be the rle of the educator in the field?, all question that need to be answered
