QR video solutions to free math worksheets

John Dalziel's insight:

Slackmath exploits the use of QR codes.

Slackmath, developed by a Geoffrey Slack, a maths teacher in the USA, provides dozens of PDFs of algebra problems.

Each PDF contains QR codes next to the mathematics problems.
After learners complete the maths problems they scan the QR code to check their answers and find video explanations of how to solve the problems.

Perfect for learners to practice and get immediate feedback while studying on their own or in a learning environment geared towards the individual learner.

PDF to Word Converter - Free

PDF to Word Converter - Free | technologies |
Convertii is a free, fast and accurate PDF-to-Word conversion service. Upload a PDF and get it back as a Word document you can edit. Converts scanned documents too, and you can use it from your mobile device!
John Dalziel's insight:

PDFs are a good file format, accessible by a much wider audience, but if the file is protected, learners, and/or others will find it difficult to edit.
For those people it would be good to be able to convert the file to, for example, Microsoft Word.
Convertii is a site which does exactly that. Users simply...
   - upload the PDF file,
   - specify an email address,
...and the converted file will be emailed to them.

Twtebook | share e-books on twitter

Twtebook | share e-books on twitter | technologies |

On Twtebook users can have PDFs shared with all their friends on Twitter. Don't worry the URL can be shared with "non-Twitter" users.

This service is free, just log in using twitter, select the files to share with others and add a message (Tweet).

Anything shared via Twtebook can be opened and viewed right in the browser, for additional speed and ease-of-use. (Users may have to click the download - in some browsers)

I can see Twetbook being used in education to share digital text and other study materials online.

NOTE:- Material has to be in pdf format which is a "Save As..." option in office 2007/10.

Paperkit | technologies |
John Dalziel's insight:

While many people may still find themselves abstaining from using online grid paper templates, there are certainly a number of benefits associated with doing so.
Practitioners, and/or learners, should keep in mind that Paperkit can provide them with countless variations of their graph, dotted or lined paper templates.
The printable paper is convenient as users don't need any other software (Word or Photoshop) to generate it . Whether they need to write something down, draw a sketch or a wireframe they can easily adjust the paper to their needs.
It also saves learners purchasing reams of paper when they only need a few sheets.

Musink - Free notation software; Free composition software

Musink is a free music composition editor that lets practitioners and/or learners easily write music notes.

The tutorials contain step-by-step instructions for most tasks and, with a little help from my musical colleague Mark, we completed our first publication.

Musink automates all layout tasks, unlike most notation editors who make it your responsibility to make music look good.

When a music score is complete, it takes 2 clicks to publish it as a PDF/PNG/XPS document, which users can then easily share online or send by email.

There is no need to install software or a plug-in to make the notes readable by others.

Apart from music notes, Musink also lets users create...
- books,
- simple posters, and
- drum loops providing a series of templates.

NOTE: the language used, according to Mark, isn't familiar to UK musicians but we are both sure it wouldn't take long to get your head around the differences.

An impressive tool that Music practitioners and Learners may well find very useful indeed.

PS End product can also be exported as a mid and/or mid loop. Impressive all round.

The Physics Classroom

The Physics Classroom is an online interactive tutorial of basic physics concepts. The lessons use an easy-to-understand language to present common physics principles discussed in physics courses.

The Physics Classroom provides access to...

- physics tutorials,

- Mind on Physics Internet Modules (1300+ questions designed to improve understanding of common physics topics),

- problem sets for practice,

- multimedia,

- animations (ideal for using on an interactive whiteboard or projector-connected PC)

- activity sheets,

- curriculum corner (pdf downloads),

- labs,

- photos, and more.

I suggest practitioners spend time exploring this site before recommending it to learners so they can help them navigate it.

There is a danger, because it is so information heavy, the Phusics Classroom could be a turn-off for learners who are just dropping in looking for something specific.
