John Dalziel's insight:
SchoolsWorld is a multimedia platform, providing innovative and informative content for everyone involved with or wanting to be involved in schools.
The Physics Classroom is an online interactive tutorial of basic physics concepts. The lessons use an easy-to-understand language to present common physics principles discussed in physics courses.
The Physics Classroom provides access to...
- physics tutorials,
- Mind on Physics Internet Modules (1300+ questions designed to improve understanding of common physics topics),
- problem sets for practice,
- animations (ideal for using on an interactive whiteboard or projector-connected PC)
- activity sheets,
- curriculum corner (pdf downloads),
- photos, and more.
I suggest practitioners spend time exploring this site before recommending it to learners so they can help them navigate it.
There is a danger, because it is so information heavy, the Phusics Classroom could be a turn-off for learners who are just dropping in looking for something specific.
A tool for learners and/or practitioners to use to
- create webs and mind maps
- plan creative stories that they are going to write.
- plan video and other multimedia projects.

You don't have to register to try.
Qwiki has launched a creation tool that allows users to create their own multimedia Qwikis; short narrated story that includes images, videos, and text.
Creating the basics of a Qwiki is very easy.
- uploading content (or linking to hosted content like a Flickr image),
- recording narration, and
- caption content.
- the order in which users upload content is the order in which it they appear in the resulting Qwiki.
- Voice recordings are limited to 20 seconds
Users can also record with their webcam and have a video of themself appear in their Qwiki.
Qwiki Creator is another tool for students to use to create short multimedia stories or short introductory narratives about topics that they're studying in their classes.

From the archaeological areas of Pompeii to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial, Google’s World Wonders Project aims to bring to life the wonders of the modern and ancient world.
The World Wonders Project is, in essence, a multimedia encyclopedia of 132 historic and notable sites across five continents.
A combination of Google Streetview imagery, Google Earth 3D buildings, UNESCO World Heritage information, videos, and pictures all on one page.
Practitioners and/or learners visiting the World Wonders Project can move through the Streetview imagery just like they would on Google Maps.
The Education tab in the upper-right corner of the World Wonders Project provides access to teaching guides and media packs for places and themes featured in the World Wonders Project.
SoundCli.ps empowers users to Share, Listen, & Download sound clips that have been uploaded to it's site.
If practitioners are looking for a new source of sounds that their students can use for their multimedia projects, SoundCli.ps might just be what they're looking for.
Learners should be reminded to credit the source of the sounds that they download and use in their projects.
SoundCli.ps is a community-powered site. I was able to download sounds without registering on the site. However to upload sounds users do need to register on the site.
The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art has an excellent collection of multimedia, interactive features about art and artists.
