John Dalziel's insight:
Early Days as yet but, Google has launched a new experimental Chrome extension that lets users (e.g.practitioners) transmit the URL of a website to other nearby computers (Used within the learning environment) using nothing but sound.
Since the majority of people are right-handed, including me, whenever you hover over a link you see a right-handed cursor.
It may not seem important to us right-handers but, even if you are a left-handed person, you are still forced to see the right-hand cursor.
Thanks to a useful Chrome plugin called “Internet for Left Handers” left-handed users can turn the right-hand cursor into a left-hand cursor while viewing the webpages.
So if you are a left-hander, simply install the plugin into your Chrome browser.
Once installed the plugin icon will appear to the right of the address bar in your browser. Simply click on it to enable or disable the left-hand cursor on webpages.
Tip: If the plugin doesn’t work after the installation, restart Chrome.

An application that allows users to sketch and create art work in their web browser.
This is done either by going to a website, or by installing an app in Google Chrome. (Important Note: Harmony does not seem to work in Internet Explorer, but it does run in Chrome, Firefox and Safari.)
Harmony isn't fancy, and lacks documentation or tutorial support.
However, it is an extremely versatile tool for creating art work with a mouse on a computer screen. I spent far too long using it and experimenting with allthe settings.
Work can be saved in .png format with a unique URL. Or, you can easily capture the resulting artwork as a screenshot.
Draw sketches with animating lines and share replays with friends!
John Dalziel's insight:
As practitioners I'm sure you will have tried out a number of online drawing tools and explored what they have to offer. If you haven't tried it check out Sketch Toy.
P.P.S. With screen capture,it can be used to demonstrate maths or Science equations etc.
Change the font on Facebook, Twitter, Google, Youtube or any other site. Test Google Web Fonts™.
This tool is very useful for web developers who want to see what font they should use on website they are producing.
Font Changer, with Google Web Fonts, allows users to change...
...on a website; all of which is great for people with poor eyesight who need bigger text to read comfortably.
Users can use this Chrome extension to change fonts on all websites, or they can pick and choose certain fonts for certain sites.
This gives them the ability to make the web a more consistent or varied place, depending on their needs and/or taste.
When users click the extension’s icon they can choose to modify global fonts, which is how they will change all websites, or users can choose custom settings to set the font for a certain website.
Helpful tools and iPad apps for students with reading and learning disabilities.
Practitioners are undoubtedly always looking for new tools to help bright young learners, with reading disabilities, meet their potential and work through their disability.
This post highlights a few of the amazing apps out there that can help learners with a reading disability improve their skills not only in reading, writing, and spelling, but also get a boost in confidence and learn to see learning as a fun, engaging activity, not a struggle.
Note: Not all are free.

Here is one for engineering/electronics learners looking for applications that let them create electronic circuit diagrams and schematics.
Upverter offers users a wide variety of electrical components including opamps, relays, antennas, power supplies, microcontrollers, and a lot more.
They can use either generic components or real part models. Each real part model is accompanied by details such as pin labels.
Users can download the schematic files for their project to use with a PCB creation program or simply to get the circuit’s image file in the PNG file format.
Upverter offers a free account that lets users have unlimited public projects and up to three private projects.
Data visualization and infographics tools are a great way to keep learners and readers engaged.
This post highlights nine free applications which will enable users to create their own infographics, maps, graphs, charts, and diagrams:
The nine applications are...
- Stat Planet;
- Gunn Map 2;
- Many Eyes;
- Twitter Visualizer;
PS I make that 10 but who is counting?
Now available, the Pearltrees iPhone app.
It is a free app that allows users to organize their links, images, and videos just as you would on the web version of Pearltrees (mentioned in earlier curations).
Learners and/or practitioners can get Pearltrees on the App Store. See screenshots and ratings, and read customer reviews.

Asana could be a great tool for learners to use to manage complex long-term projects that they are working on in teams.
Practitioners can use Asana to create a group of students then use Asana to send them assignment and/or other reminders.
Managers may also find Asana great for planning academic department meetings.
Groups can have up to 30 members in the free version of Asana.
I'm not sure why it is a requirement for web 2.0 applications to have strange names of missspelt names but, Muvee Cloud is a simple service for creating videos based on images and audio files.
Muvee Cloud is a place for creating collaborative, and ideal for educational purposes, private photo albums.
As a creator of an album users can select the best images and create a video for the group/team.
Users can choose to share the resulting videos privately so that only those invited can see them or they can be shared on Facebook, Twitter, or embedded into a blog, vle, ePortfolio etc..
