Voxer

Voxer | technologies | Scoop.it
Voxer is a walkie talkie like system with live voice, text, and photos. Get started by signing up and downloading our app for iOS, Android, or Windows phones.
John Dalziel's insight:

Voxer is a live messaging application that brings push-to-talk technology to smartphones.
Their service features live and recorded voice - if users push the button to talk, they can be heard on the other end as they speak, but everything is also simultaneously recorded so they and the recipient(s) can play back any message later.
Unlike other push-to-talk services and systems, Voxer also has integrated text, photo, and location sharing which can be sent alongside voice messaging. Users can to talk to individuals or groups - select up to 5 chat participants to communicate with at once (or up to 500 using Voxer Pro or Voxer Business).
I feel that Voxer is worth a closer look as a potential tool for WBL Assessors and other practitioners.

John Dalziel's insight:

Safeguardiing/eSafety within most learning providers fails to highlight dangers like these...
Pay Attention
While texting-and-walking may present minor bodily threat to large inanimate objects and brisk speed-walkers, texting while driving or operating heavy machinery literally kills.
The potentially deadly practice, thankfully, is beginning to get the attention it deserves.
AT&T, in their “It Can Wait” campaign, has championed the anti-driving-and-texting initiative with videos about the dangers of driving distracted. I hope it works.
