How does it work?
Step 1: Users create a short title to get their audience engaged and interested in their Sutori.
Step 2: Use the Story Tool to add, move, or delete items. Not only can users add traditional text and multimedia components, they can also add assessment tools (i.e. multiple choice and drag and drop) and/or a discussion forum.
Step 3: Collaborate with peers. NOTE: The free version limits users to joining or creating 2 groups for free.
Step 4: When the story is finished, add a conclusion and share with the world to see.

Imagistory - Creative Storytelling App for young learners

Imagistory - Creative Storytelling App for young learners | technologies |
Get Imagistory - Creative Storytelling App for Kids on the App Store. See screenshots and ratings, and read customer reviews.
John Dalziel's insight:

Imagistory is a creative storytelling app which uses wordless picture books.
The idea behind the wordless books is that youngsters get to be the storytellers, simply by using their imaginations to tell the story using the pictures, creating it as they go.
It's a new way for learners and parents/teachers to share a story together, ones which can be told a different way every time.
Imagistory helps...
   - foster creativity,
   - imagination and
   - to develop language and early literacy skills.
Youngsters are already natural storytellers, so help them discover this and unleash their storytelling potential!

Could also be used for ESOL, EFL, ESL and Modern Language learning.

John Dalziel's insight:

Storyboard provides a fun and creative way for learners to learn, and an innovative and fun way to visually communicate their work.

Many are visual learners, finding text heavy going and documents to be quite boring.

Creating a good storyboard is a collaborative process, and the more they share the better their outcome.

Tina Jameson's curator insight, August 29, 2013 6:50 PM

Useful innovative tool, which would be great for those students planning their 'Book Trailers'.

Thematic - Create your own scrolling visual stories!

Thematic - Create your own scrolling visual stories! | technologies |
Visit to create your own free scrolling album to share with your friends.
John Dalziel's insight:

Thematic is designed for building and sharing visual stories, allowing users to display up to twenty pictures organized around a theme of their choosing.
After importing pictures users can add one line of text to each image in their story and rearrange the sequence in which their images appear on their screen.
The resulting story is displayed in a vertically scrolling format with each of the images occupying all of the available space within the browser.
Completed stories can be shared publicly or kept private.
Each public story can be shared via Twitter, Facebook, email, or embedding into a webpage.
I recommend importing high resolution images as smaller images will become pixelated when enlarged to Thematic's full size. After importing your pictures you can add text and rearrange the sequence in which your images appear on your screen.

GeoStories | technologies |
GeoStories combine interactive maps, media, and narrative. This collection contains all GeoStories from NG Education.
John Dalziel's insight:

GeoStories are short, map-based stories featured on National Geographic Education.

The stories combine text, maps, and pictures to tell a story as a series of slides connected to placemarks on maps. National Geographic Education currently offers twenty GeoStories.

The current GeoStories cover subjects in the areas of...

- politics,

- ecology,

- music, and

- exploration.
The Geostories offer a good model of using maps to enhance the telling of a story.

Melissa Marshall's curator insight, December 21, 2013 8:06 PM

GeoStories are published by National Geographic and contain a narrative, a map and media. It  would be a great idea for students to make their own GeoStory about a significant historical character, ancient civilisation or a journey of discovery!
