Swite: create a website with posts, photos and videos from your social networks | technologies | Scoop.it
John Dalziel's insight:
Swite provides users with a simple and intuitive platform to create a website with the content (e.g posts, photos and videos) they share on their social media accounts such as...
 ♥ Facebook,
 ♥ Twitter,
 ♥ Google Plus and
 ♥ Instagram.
The resulting Swite website is automatically synchronized with a users social media networks and updates itself every time they post new content.
Practitioners could use Swite for a variety of educational purposes including...
♥ curating digital content for their course/class,
♥ use it as a digital portfolio to showcase what they have been sharing
 ...and many more.
There are several pre-designed templates to choose from. Users have to provide a valid email address to access the resulting website’s editor. From there they can choose which of their social media profiles they want to connect. The free version of Swite allows you to do all the things I've have talked about so far, however, if users want more functionalities (no Swite brand, a customized domain name, 3 email 5GB) they will need to go pro, which isn't free!

TodaysMeet - Give everyone a voice

TodaysMeet - Give everyone a voice | technologies | Scoop.it
John Dalziel's insight:

TodaysMeet is intended to be a backchannel chat, but there’s much more users can do with it.
Users can create the same TodaysMeet room (and corresponding URL) for an entire year.
Their learners can bookmark it and can be there in one click.
If users need their learners to visit a site quickly, they just add the link to their TodaysMeet room and their learners can access it quickly. Google Tone

Google Tone | technologies | Scoop.it
Broadcast any URL to computers within earshot.
John Dalziel's insight:

Early Days as yet but, Google has launched a new experimental Chrome extension that lets users (e.g.practitioners) transmit the URL of a website to other nearby computers (Used within the learning environment) using nothing but sound.
To try the feature...
   - all computers must first have the Google Tone Chrome extension installed and
   - all computers must be within reasonable earshot of each other.
Then when the practitioner is on a webpage they’d like to share...
   - they hit the little Google Tone tab in their browser and they’ll hear a little succession of beeps — not too dissimilar to an old ZX Spectrum computer loading a game.
   - nearby machines receive a notification with the sender’s Google profile and picture embedded within the message, and
   - the learners can open the URL on their own PC.

Spoken™ - Where the world finds a voice. | technologies | Scoop.it
Where the world finds a voice.
John Dalziel's insight:

Before I say too much about Spoken, at the time of writing this, it is currently in beta.
Currently potential users will need to request an invite to use the service. My invitation arrived within seconds.
In short, Spoken is a new social network that is designed for sharing audio recordings of four minutes or less, describing itself as "Instagram for audio."
Once registered, users can...
upload audio recordings that are up to four minutes long; and
attach cover images to those recordings.
...all of their recordings will appear in their profile where people can follow them and users can follow others.
Spoken doesn't have a built-in recording tool so users have to record outside of Spoken then upload their recording.
I'll be using Audacity to make the recordings that I'll upload to Spoken.
Spoken could provide a good way for practitioners to encourage learners to post audio recordings in which they reflect on learning experiences and or share advice with other learners. At the same time learners will gain confidence with, and enhance, their spoken communication skills.
Practitioners, will have to follow each of their learners to hear their recordings.
