StoryCorps

StoryCorps | technologies | Scoop.it
Our mission is to provide Americans of all backgrounds and beliefs with the opportunity to record, share, and preserve the stories of our lives.
John Dalziel's insight:

StoryCorps website, USA based, has a couple of good tools for learners, across the world, who are going to interview others.
They provide learners with excellent questions that they can use when interviewing people about their lives or about the lives' of others.
Learners can select their own questions from "The Great Questions Lists" and "The Great Questions Generator" will help them select the best questions for the person or people they're planning to interview.

CompassLearning - Learning Profiler

John Dalziel's insight:

CompassLearning has created a Learning Profiler that is free to use and the results are easy to share.
The resulting information could be helpful as a starting place for getting to know the learners on a course. It would also go a long way in helping practitioners identify resources and tools that will best meet the needs of individuals.
When learners have finished going through the profiler, they can share their result “badges” with others through a link to the badges, through Facebook, Twitter, email or a printed report.
This would be a good getting-to-know-you activity, at induction, where learners could visually see their similarities displayed.
An alternative, would be a one-to-one session with learners. This would alow practitioners to get additional information from the learners; providing better picture of who they are, what they love, fear, get excited about, etc.
Yes it will take time but the information gleaned will be invaluable!
Try it out.
