FlipAnim - draw and create an animated GIF

FlipAnim - draw and create an animated GIF | technologies | Scoop.it
Create flipbook animations online!
John Dalziel's insight:
Flip Anim provides possibly the easiest way draw and create an animated GIF.
To create an animation on Flip Anim simply...
  - go to the website
  - start drawing on the notepad in the centre of the screen.
NOTE: Users can...
1: select different tools, and their size and colours, by using the "grid" icon at the bottom of the screen.
2: Load/save their project, alter page transparency, alter animation speed, zoom and/or Copy/paste a frame by using the "gear" icon at the bottom of the screen
Users can draw as much or as little as they like on each page of their notepad. They're essentially drawing a piece of each animation on each page of their notepad similar to the way that old cartoons were created.
When they're done drawing on all of their pages, they can preview the animation by pressing the play button.
To save their work they have to upload it to Flip Anim (registration is not required) then they can download it as an animated GIF.
Flip Anim can be a good tool for learners to use to create animated GIFs to illustrate short pieces of dialogue or to just create a simple gif to enhance their creative writing.
Go on, give it a try, you know you want to!

Resize your image or photo online - It's easy, it's free! | technologies | Scoop.it
Resize your image online in three simple steps! Trouble mailing your images? Trouble putting your image online? Resize your images here; it's a free service.
John Dalziel's insight:
There are many times when education practitioners and/or learners want to reduce the pixels and/or overall size of an image for print, email and/or use in web sites, wikis and blogs.
There are many options available to do just that but...
Resize Your Image is definitely a very simple option and a useful one that should be added to your tech toolbox.
Resize Your Image allows users to upload an image, specify the desired dimensions and then download the resized image.
Resize Your Image also provides users with rotation and zooming tools as well as the option to save in one of three file formats: jpg, png and gif.
NOTE: Not only does Resize Your Image allow users to modify the size of an image (in pixels), the tool also reduces the size of the actual file itself.
Must be worth giving it a try!

Unio | Interactive lesson delivery & real-time assessment platform

Unio | Interactive lesson delivery & real-time assessment platform | technologies | Scoop.it
Gain an instant insight into your students' understanding with our award-winning interactive lesson delivery and real-time assessment platform!
John Dalziel's insight:
Although it's not yet ready to be a remote instructional tool, because there isn't a voice broadcasting option, Unio is a free virtual whiteboard system that education practitioners can use to broadcast illustrations and demonstrations to their learners' laptops.
To get started with Unio users...
  - create a subject heading, then...
  - create a 'lesson'.
Unio's lesson creation tool is basically a simple slide-deck editor. Users can...
  - draw,
  - type,
  - insert images and
  - add videos
...to each slide in their lesson.
Note: Lesson slides can also include quizzes that users build within the Unio platform. It's important to create such quizzes before broadcasting to learners.
Once a lesson is created users can broadcast it to their learners. Learners receive the lesson on their laptops when they go to https://www.unio-app.com/#login and enter the pin number assigned to the practitioner's lesson.
Note: every lesson's pin is different so users won't be able to get learners in the habit of using the same pin for every activity.
With lessons appearing on the learners' screens, practitioners can have them annotate what they see and answer any quiz questions.
Learners can work at their own pace.
Users can select a learner's screen to see what he or she has done and then give them some quick feedback in the form of an emoji.
Unio could be useful in any setting in which practitioners want to share a lesson for the day and let learners work through it at their own pace with a little periodic guidance and feedback from them.
Unio has the potential to become a great remote instructional tool if it adds a voice broadcasting option and is optimised for use on mobile phones as well as laptops.
Unio has many uses, in its current format and is still worth taking a closer look.

  - is a great tool for assessments and having a game based learning element added to the learning environment.

  - offers many quizzes in the "public library" which can be duplicated and then personalised/edited.
When playing, Kahoot! in "ghost mode" it enables learners to try and beat their initial score.
Jumble, one of Kahoot!'s recent additions, has proved to be a lot of fun and beneficial for learning.
In Jumble...

emaze is the next generation of online presentation software. Select any of the professionally designed free templates to create amazing presentations.
John Dalziel's insight:
Educators are increasingly embracing technology in their learning environments and trying new methods of imparting knowledge to their learners.
Their main problem is, they are oftentimes too busy to try out new tools in a sea of choices that are now available to them.
I don't know how many times I've read, heard or even said myself "Death by PowerPoint" but although many practitioners still love it, it can, for many, seem overly simplistic and antiquated.
If you, and/or your colleagues, are looking for other options and tools that offer better features when creating presentations, then emaze is worth a closer look.

Vibby homepage
John Dalziel's insight:
Vibby is a very good tool that practitioners (and/or others) can use to highlight and share specific parts of videos.
Viewers will only see the cropped portion users sent and not the entire video.
This is especially useful to use with learners.
Instead of sharing the whole video users can highlight the parts they want them to see and send them over in the form of vibs. Vibby supports a wide variety of video hosting platforms including YouTube, Vimeo, Twitch, Facebook, Mobcrush and any publicly hosted HTML5 video format.
Vibs that users create can be open to the public for everyone to watch and comment on. Alternatively, users can unlist their vibs so that only those with the link can comment.
Users can also share their vibs via email, social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter, a direct link, or embed them in their blog or website.
NOTE: YouTube has a relatively similar feature that allows users to crop and share specific parts of videos.

Make any video your lesson
John Dalziel's insight:
EDPuzzle is a popular tool that allows practitioners to add their voice and/or text questions to educational videos.
On EDpuzzle practitioners can...
● search for educational videos and/or
● upload their own videos
...to use as the basis of their planned course element.
Within EDPuzzle's editor practitioners can...
● select portions of videos for learners to watch.
EDpuzzle also has an on-line learning environment component that they can use to assign videos to their learners and track their progress during their video lessons.
Richard Byrne's video clip demonstrates how to use the main features of EDPuzzle; it may help possible users decide if it will enhance their current practice.
Well worth a closer look!
