CK-12 Simulations

CK-12 Simulations | technologies | Scoop.it
John Dalziel's insight:

On the CK-12 Simulations website, learners can chose from a LONG list of simulations that cover everything from the physics of sound to gravity's forces on water from a fountain...
How does it work?
   - The first step, once they've selected a simulation, is to learn about the physics behind the simulation.
   - Then they are taken into the simulation to put it to the test.
CK-12 Simulations website has prompts under the challenge button to see if the learner really knows their stuff.
I highly recommend that STEM practitioners check K-12 Simulations out

To do this users...
   - copy the URL of a video and
   - paste it into the VideoANT annotation tool.
As the video plays click the "add annotation" button when users want to add an annotation.

Sketchpad 3.6 - Draw, Create, Share!

Sketchpad 3.6 - Draw, Create, Share! | technologies | Scoop.it
Sketchpad; multi-touch, multi-user, non-destructive drawing application written in HTML5.
John Dalziel's insight:

If you, and/or learners, are currently creating posters or drawings the traditional way and you'd like to offer an electronic method, I'd recommend checking out Sketchpad from Sketch.io.
Sketchpad from Sketch.io is an easy, online sketchpad that lets learners draw and create within their browser without the need to make an account.
Initially it may appear to be like all kinds of other online sketching tools you've seen.
But, if you dig into it more, you'll discover lots of features that many others lack.
The gear tool, for example, is highly customizable so that the gear can be practically any shape you'd like.
The real stand outs for me are the blending types, such as darken and overlay, that really move it up a notch. Add in layer control and it's a really full feature tool!

Free Broken Link Checker / Online URL Validator - finds dead / bad weblinks | technologies | Scoop.it
Free Broken Link Checker / Online HTML Validator - find dead hyperlinks
John Dalziel's insight:

A "must take a closer look" for web designers and learning providers.
Why?
Because Dead hyperlinks on websites are not just annoying – their existence may cause some real damage to your reputation on the Internet!
As a result, learning providers, and/or others, may:
   - Lose some of the user base (current users sooner or later will get frustrated enough to never come back)
   - Get problems with getting new learners/clients (because of the dead weblinks people simply won't be finding things/pages they are looking for).
   - Damage your reputation online (most of online customers consider stale hyperlinks as demonstration of no respect to them from the web presence's owners)
   - Have negative impact on your website's ratings with major Search Engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing etc
