Create free websites - SnackWebsites

Create free websites - SnackWebsites | technologies | Scoop.it
Create free websites, really easy! Free & easy to set up. Especially developed to work on all mobile devices. No ads.
John Dalziel's insight:

SnackWebsites Mobile Website Builder is a free to use online web service that lets users create mobile websites.
Today nearly every learner has a smartphone. And learners make full use of their smartphones by using the Internet on them.

This makes it very easy for learning providers, or individual practitioners, to quickly show their learners, their online files that are mobile-compatible.
This can be a great advantage for tutorials, distance learning etc.

Mobile sharing is also beneficial for learners that have portfolios online.
Creating online portfolios of work will not do them any good if the web service they use is not mobile-friendly.
When users start creating a website, they can select which category it falls in; covered categories include...
- personal,
- portfolio,
- community,
- blog,
- product,
- band,
- event,
...and lots more.
Users can also select a template from the various visually appealing options.
The site even gives users numerous extension options to customize the overall URL of the resulting website.
A possible addition to employability courses and/or for community courses e.g. websites for self-employed, community groups, sports clubs, the list goes on.

GeoGuessr - Let's explore the world!

GeoGuessr - Let's explore the world! | technologies | Scoop.it
GeoGuessr is a geography game which takes you on a journey around the world and challenges your ability to recognize your surroundings.
John Dalziel's insight:

GeoGuessr is a simple game based on Google maps.
An image is provided of an unknown place somewhere in the world and users have to guess where it is and click that place on the map.
As it's based on Google maps street view, users can actually explore around the image and look for clues.
Once they click on the map they will see the real location and how close or far away they were.
Points are awarded depending on how close users are to the real Users have five turns to score as many points as possible.
Using an Interactive White Board, and Triptico to randomly select learners, practitioners can...
- show learners provided images
- ask them to guess where it is and
- ask them to justify their answers by describing what they can see.

A great way to bring the world into the learning environment; good for learners to explore inside the images and pan around to look for clues. Could be used for discriptive language development; get learners to write short descriptions of each of the five places visited during one game.
I found it fun and a little addictive.

All of these tools are stand alone are not connected to anything.  Assessment tools should connect with google or edmodo or other platform points to keep the flow in the class. YOu shoudl look at a product like Literatu ( www.literatu.com) - that really does a good job. They promise any teacher can deliver any activity to any device, in minutes.....and they deliver.
