If Education Practitioners are looking to edit audio files, then Audacity should be at the top of their toolbox list. 
Audacity can record live audio through a microphone or mixer, or digitise recordings from other media. 
With some sound cards, and on any recent version of Windows, Audacity can also capture streaming audio. 
Audacity is the easiest tool available to... 
  - cut, 
  - copy, 
  - splice and mix audio, 
  - record live files, 
  - change the speed and pitch of a recording, and 
  - import/export some obscure file formats. 
Note - Audacity Portable - https://portableapps.com/apps/music_video/audacity_portable - is worth a closer look as it is the popular Audacity audio editor packaged as a portable app; practitioners and their learners can take their audio files along with everything they need to edit and record on the go. 
Users can place it on a USB flash drive, iPod, portable hard drive or a CD and use it on any computer, without leaving any personal information behind.

NASA's SoundCloud channel could be a good place, for practitioners, to find audio to support lessons on the development and evolution of the space program.
The recordings are in the public domain so both practitioners and their learners can download the recordings to re-use in media productions about space.
On NASA's SoundCloud channel visitors will find audio from...
   - Apollo,
   - Mercury, and
   - Discovery missions.
They'll also find audio of rocket sounds and space sounds.

The NASA Sounds web site also features a larger number of downloadable mp3s and they can be accessed at...

Thanks to the new and certainly ambitious All of Bach web site, learners and their practitioners can eventually watch the Netherlands Bach Society (founded in 1921) perform each and every one of those 1080 compositions by Bach.
The site, at the time of posting this, features six performances, which means there’s only another 1074 to go.
A new Bach recording will go live every Friday.
