Web Literacy - Mozilla Learning

Web Literacy - Mozilla Learning | technologies |
We want more people to see themselves as citizens of the web. The Mozilla Learning Network offers programs and a global community dedicated to helping people learn the most important skills of our age: the ability to read, write and participate in the digital world.
John Dalziel's insight:
Web Literacy provides an initial framework that examines the entry-level web literacy skills (participate, read and write) and 21s century learning skills (problem solving, communication, creativity and collaboration). These skills are presented in a visual map which practitioners can explore by simply clicking on a given skill and they will be provided with more information about it including things such as definitions and activities to use in learning environments with learners. Each activity comes with a set of instructions on how to use it with learners together with a detailed overview of the web literacy and 21st century skills it attempts to teach.

Virtual Training Suite

Virtual Training Suite | technologies |

The Virtual Training Suite - a set of free Internet tutorials to help users develop Internet research skills; the website does say "for your university course" but, that has more to do with where the funding comes from than anything else.

Research Skills are important and relevant to all learners at all levels.

All of the tutorials are written and reviewed by a national team of lecturers and librarians from universities across the UK.

These interactive, teach-yourself tutorials take, on average, around an hour to complete.

Users are encouraged to work through the material in their own time and at their own pace.
