Doceri - The Interactive Whiteboard for iPad.

Doceri - The Interactive Whiteboard for iPad. | technologies |
Doceri is a scalable suite of products that allows a teacher or presenter to control a computer's desktop, to control audiovisual technology, and to annotate any presentation in real time with the Apple™ iPad™. Doceri is an intuitive interface that can replace interactive whiteboards and expensive AV touch panels.
John Dalziel's insight:

Doceri is a versatile app that lets practitioners, and/or learners, create, share, annotate and control presentations, and they can also record and share screen-casts.
At the time of curating this, the iPad version is free, and a Windows 8.1 version costs $4.99.
Trying to record voice narration while also recording or annotating a presentation can, for many, be challenging, and Doceri simplifies this process with a timeline-based editor that lets users capture a presentation first, then go back and add voice narration where appropriate. Users can also pause a recording as many times as they need.
Doceri also gives users many options for uploading or sharing screencasts; they can...
· share a screencast directly to YouTube or Facebook;
· send it privately as an e-mail attachment;
· save it to their camera roll;
· transfer it to their computer via iTunes;
· upload it to a LMS (learning management system) or Google Drive;
· incorporate it into iBooks Author; or
· import it into iMovie, Adobe Premiere or other video editing software.

Office Mix - PowerPoint add-in

Office Mix - PowerPoint add-in | technologies |
John Dalziel's insight:

Office Mix is a new offering for practitioners, from Microsoft, which turns their PowerPoints into interactive presentations.

NOTE: Mix works with the 2013 version of PowerPoint by adding a tab with a number of tools to the interface.
Using Mix, a microphone and webcam, users can record themself narrating the slides and have this play along with their presentation.
They can also record screencasts and embed them into their slideshow.
Users can include interactive quizzes and polls, and they can receive feedback on how each of their learners performed on these.
Office Mix is very intuitive to use.
Mixes can be shared online and viewed on multiple devices.
It’s a great tool for blended learning activities.

Active Presenter

Active Presenter | technologies |

ActivePresenter's free edition can do practically everything that the Standard and Pro edition can do; the only difference is that the commercial editions can export to a few more formats.

For most practical purposes, the free edition is more than satisfactory.

What does it do?

ActivePresenter allows users to screen capture, cut, slice, join, draw, annotate and do all kinds of editing that is required to produce engaging tutorials and/or demonstrations without touching any other video editing software.

Mouse clicks, cursor path and movement, keyboard key presses, drag and drop actions, and more, can all be shown; the editing library lets users add texts, graphics, pre-built shapes such as arrows, circles etc., spotlights, zoom-in and zoom-out, slide transitions, and other embellishments.

Record audio from a microphone or add an audio track from file.

Add closed captions/subtitles, and yes ActivePresenter has an image editor included as well.

Got to be worth a closer look!

CaptureCast Chrome Screen Recording

CaptureCast Chrome Screen Recording | technologies |
CaptureCast Chrome is a free screen recording and lecture capture extension designed for educators to empower video in the classroom
John Dalziel's insight:
For Learning Providers who use Chromebooks, the free Chrome app called CaptureCast will allow learners to Record a Webcam Video on their Chromebook.
CaptureCast, produced by Cattura Video, allows users to record the screen on their Chromebook as well as input from their webcam.
To record a video with the webcam on a Chromebook...
► open CaptureCast in the browser
► allow it to access your webcam and microphone
► specify the resolution to use when capturing the video and
► choose the audio quality.
Note: If users have an external microphone connected to their Chromebook, they must make sure they have it enabled before they start recording.
When they've finished recording in CaptureCast they can...
► save their video on their Chromebook or
► upload it to YouTube, or
► upload it to Vimeo, or
► upload it to Google Drive.
Rather than having learners write their blog posts, they can record short videos to talk about what they've learned in learning environments that week, or share their thoughts on a topic that practitioners have posted for discussion on their course blog. Including videos in blog posts is a good way to increase engagement on course blogs.

Ask3 | technologies |
John Dalziel's insight:

Ask3 (from TechSmith, the makers of Jing and Camtasia) is...
- screencasting software,
- collaboration tool,
- differentiation platform and
- scaffolded support system all rolled into one FREE iOS app.
Learners and/or practitioners can draw on a virtual whiteboard, record their drawings, narration and even annotate over pictures.
Ask3 also...
- allows learners to automatically upload these screencasts so that they are instantly viewable from all iPads logged into the same "class".
- also gives learners the ability to comment on each other's video - from within the video timeline; they can pause the screencast and add their own comment(s), question(s) or suggestion(s). All of these comments are instantly viewable for the class and practitioner to see and reply to.
There's more.
If text isn't enough to answer a question. Peers and/or practitioners can...
- pause the video where they want to provide help,
- comment,
- ask a question or solve the problem.
Ask3 then allows them to screencast over that paused image and to create their own video response, taking over from where the original video left off.
The video response is then available for the class to view in the timeline as well.
I'm sure that's enough to enthuse potential users.

Mark Ayton's curator insight, August 15, 2013 6:28 AM

Need a simple free tool for instantly preparing, presenting, pre-recording and flipping learning activities? This could be the very thing to get your suite of iPads out of the racks and into action! Thanks to @acljohn for another great find.
