Making Biology Fun, and keeping it interactive!

For biology learners, Interactive Biology could be a good review aid. The videos won't replace learning environment instruction, but they could definitely make a nice supplement to course notes and outlines posted online (VLEs etc).

Interactive Biology is a website offering..
     - a series of videos, quizzes, and study guides for biology students.
     - good free resources along with study guides for sale.

One resource I found on Interactive Biology was the Interactive Biology YouTube channel. There are ten multiple choice quizzes based on information in the videos and study guides. Each quiz offers immediate feedback and provides a hint if users get a question wrong and want to try it again.

All of these tools are stand alone are not connected to anything.  Assessment tools should connect with google or edmodo or other platform points to keep the flow in the class. YOu shoudl look at a product like Literatu ( www.literatu.com) - that really does a good job. They promise any teacher can deliver any activity to any device, in minutes.....and they deliver.

blubbr

blubbr | technologies | Scoop.it

Blubbr : Create and Play Quizzes from YouTube Videos

John Dalziel's insight:

Blubbr is a free website that lets users create and play quiz games from YouTube videos.

The site calls these “Trivs”. Users can play trivs in different categories, from celebs and music to sport and, more importantly, education.

These trivs can then be shared with anyone across the internet.
Once a short piece of video has been watched, the first question will appear. When answered, users are presented with another piece of video and then another question and so on.
There are many Trivs already on the site, however the quality and content is quite varied. Note: the site is still in Beta.
Practitioners can make their own Trivs using the Triv builder tool however, the site only uses YouTube videos, so if access is blocked by your employer, that will be an issue.

One final thought, practitioners could get learners to create their own Trivs for each other as a homework task perhaps?
