How WordPress Helps You Take Creative Control of Your Website ... | Technological Sparks | Scoop.it
There will of course be a learning curve, as there is with all technology. It does take a bit of time to get used to WordPress. That's the price of creative control. But if you're the kind of person who would rather invest a little time ...
Monica S Mcfeeters's insight:

Excerpt:

"If you’re an independent artist or small creative business, a website is essential for showcasing your work and finding customers. But building and maintaining it is challenging for several reasons:

You don’t have a big budget. Even if you did, you’re averse to spending a lot of money on a website until you’re sure it will bring in customers. (Spot the catch-22.)

You’re a creative, not a web developer. Your eyes glaze hover when you hear expressions such as CMS, CSS, HTML and DNS. When different ‘experts’ recommend different solutions, it’s hard to know which is the best option for you.

You want to be in control. You hate having to wait for someone else to update your website, so you want a system that allows you to change the text yourself and add images, video or sound instantly. But you’re not a web developer, so this level of control feels beyond you."

Verizon Continues to Build FiOS TV, Internet Subs in Q1 | Multichannel.com

Verizon Continues to Build FiOS TV, Internet Subs in Q1 | Multichannel.com | Technological Sparks | Scoop.it

Verizon’s fiber-fed FiOS platform continued to generate subscriber gains in the first quarter, as revenues for that part of the telco’s business rose 15.1%, to $2.6 billion, versus the year-ago quarter.  FiOS services represented 69% of consumer revenues at Verizon during the quarter.

Verizon added 188,000 FiOS Internet customers  in the quarter, down from 193,000 in first quarter 2012. The additions pushed the total to 5.6 million, up from 5.01 million a year ago. FiOS Internet penetration was 38.2%, versus 36.4% in the 2012 period.

The telco signed on 169,000 FiOS TV subs, for a total of 4.9 million, compared with 4.35 million in the year-earlier period, a 12% gain. In the first quarter last year, Verizon added 180,000 video subs. Video penetration reached 34.1%, improving from 32.3%.

Verizon added 99,000 net broadband customers, giving it a total of 8.9 million.  Gains for FiOS Internet offset the  89,000 DSL customers Verizon lost in the quarter.

The FiOS network passed 17.8 million homes at the end of the quarter as Verizon migrated roughly 83,000 homes on its old copper network to fiber.  Verizon plans to upgrade 300,000 copper-connected homes to fiber in FiOS markets by the end of the year.

Revealed: The Most Annoying Types of Ads on the Internet [Infographic] - SocialTimes

Revealed: The Most Annoying Types of Ads on the Internet [Infographic] - SocialTimes | Technological Sparks | Scoop.it
Pop-up ads, lottery scams, and other types of advertising do more than just interrupt the flow of information online.
Monica S Mcfeeters's insight:

A fun, most likely true little infogragh for everyone. How do you react to these ads and what do you find most offensive?

I'd like to ad drugs of nearly all kinds that seem to sponsor all TV shows , followed by the medical lawyers that follow the drug ads, followed by the never ending insurance ads that come in between the other two, followed  by junk drink and food ads that seem to fill in all the other spots.

NO wonder bad habits are so hard to change they are literally brain washed into everyone so steadily. The cure to the irritation and brainwashing is to take more walks through woods, on beaches, and down lanes....Make some live music or dance to it.....Learn to enjoy our own ablity to grow food, cook that food and share it with our friends and neighbors more in our own homes and back yards. I live in a small southern town and rarely ever see any kids paying outside.
