In order to fuel the 4K fire, NVIDIA, the worlds largest graphics card company has produced a card which can pump out up to 5K resolutions across 3 monitors. needless to say, this is incredible. however, to the average consumer, this is out of reach, mainly due to this new card costing $3000 USD.

Quantum computers, put simply, is using atoms to store information, or bytes of data. By doing this, and shrinking transistors to the size of an atom, means that we will have potentially millions of transistors in a chip the size of todays standards, which have thousands. The possibilities for this technology are endless, however, the main advantage will be size.

Quantum computing.

The ability of Quantum computers to process and store vast amounts of information in a small amount of space will be instrumental to the transport industry as we continue into the next decade.

Holding all the worlds maps and storing all possible routes within those maps, would minimize the communication of the autonomous cars of the future to any surrounding network connections, allowing them to make quicker, smarter decisions, and in turn making them safer, more reliable and more energy efficient. 

Having this information stored would also have a roll on effect to Network connections themselves, with the transport system only relying on the connections for communications that updating constantly was a priority, and freeing them up to be used in a more efficient manner.

Although a relatively new technology, Solid State Drives are making a massive impact on how fast our computers are, and the speed of which we can access information. SSD's use NAND based storage, which is a form of non volatile memory,meaning that it doesnt lose its data if it loses power.

Pixel Power: the future of computers is nigh! 4K resoultion is upon us! For those of you who don't understand the technical jargon, 4k simply means that the default screen resolution is four thousand pixels high. This means more pixel density, which in turn means more productivity as you can fit more on a single screen.

This is the future of manufacturing. The only question now, is whats the limit? How big of a machine can we print? An automobile? A small Jetliner? Or about about entire structural components of a bridge? It won't take us long to figure it out, this technology is exploding at an exponential rate.

As a child watching Star Trek, even just 15 years ago, the concept of a "replicator" was fascinating. Almost any object could be made almost instantly as you needed it. Now while the underlying technology is fundamentally different in how they would function, the overlying concept is so similar. And its now doubt only a matter of time that we move from existing 3d printing materials to something a little more atomic.

Since the dawn of science fiction, we have dreamt of interstellar travel, phasers, and being able to create objects out of thin air. Now, with the introduction of Three Dimensional printers, the latter is possible. Already, revolutionaries from different fields of science are putting this technology to use, with the creation of artificial organs in the field of medical science, or the creation of super strong trusses lighter than water. Now, the unimaginable is possible, and its so easy to join this revolution. So easy in fact, that you can do it in your own lounge room.

 

3d printing offers a few main benefits:

customisation: imagine if your foot is one of thousands in the world which just doesn't fit into any shoe you try. 3d printers can change that by taking a 3d photo of your foot, and just like Cinderella, make a shoe which fits perfectly.

changing the future of innovation and manufacturing: already children of generation z are interacting with 3d printers in schools across america, allowing them to create personalised toys. what will they create next?

open design: you go to sit on a couch, and SNAP!, the leg breaks. imagine if you could just go to your printer, and make a new one? Just like that?

Researchers at UC San Diego and Microsoft found that as NAND flash densities increase, read and write latency as well as errors grow, giving SSD a finite life as a technology.

Despite being a relatively old technology, Solid State Drives are already in the negative spotlight from scientists. They have recently found that though the maximum capacity of the drives are increasing, the input and output speeds are decreasing. this trabslates into slower overall computer performance.
