3 Ways to Make Your E-Learning Course Look Like a Comic Book

3 Ways to Make Your E-Learning Course Look Like a Comic Book | M-learning, E-Learning, and Technical Communications | Scoop.it

"Comic book layouts are pretty popular. And they work well for elearning courses. For one, they look different. It’s that type of contrast that can hook your learners who might be bored with the standard-looking corporate elearning. On top of that a comic-like layout breaks the content into panels which allows you to control the pacing and flow of information as each panel progressively reveals more. It’s a great way to still have the simplicity of a linear course, but make it seem more engaging."

YouTube makes it easy to find instructional videos on practically any topic. There are 18,600,000 search results for “how to” on the site at the moment. Obviously not all of them are relevant, but that’s a staggering number.

This sounds wild, but it may be the next "best thing"...

The school that swapped its laptops for iPads… and wants to switch back | PC Pro blog

The school that swapped its laptops for iPads… and wants to switch back | PC Pro blog | M-learning, E-Learning, and Technical Communications | Scoop.it
There have been several well-publicised stories of schools bringing iPads into the classroom.

I saw this thanks to @courosa on Twitter. I can understand the point of this, which is that umping on the bandwagon without doing the homework first on if it fits your business (or school) needs is just not a good idea. I know that before I bought my smartphone and my iPad, I did a lot of research. I was willing not to get iDevices in favor of PC-friendlier devices. However, I couldn't find what I needed in non-Apple products. I am a dichotomy; I'm very pro-Windows and like my PC laptop for doing the heavy duty lifting and running the show, but I love my Apple products for their mobility. But I knew what I was getting into. To me, it sounds like this school's tech advisor didn't do their job properly.

Simple rules, complex behaviours: gamification and learning | Ben Betts is... | M-learning, E-Learning, and Technical Communications | Scoop.it
One of the most common criticisms I see of Gamification for learning is its simplistic, behavioural approach when what we really need to foster is more complex, creative knowledge creation. Increasingly, I don't see a conflict.

This is a really interesting article. The basis is simple--as many good things are. Sometimes it comes down to simple rules that can make something work so effectively.

The Anatomy Of A Great Teacher

The Anatomy Of A Great Teacher | M-learning, E-Learning, and Technical Communications | Scoop.it
There are a lot of great teachers out there. But what, exactly, makes a teacher a great teacher? Is their approach to their students and their classroom different?

Just because I'm a huge proponent of e-learning and m-learning doesn't mean that I'm anti-teacher. Quite the contrary! I'm a teacher's kid, and all my siblings and I have had some sort of training or teaching position in our lifetimes in different ways. To quote my very wise taekwondo instructor, "The best way to learn is to teach." I hope teachers never go away, as the really good ones are instrumental in helping all kids learn to fulfill their potential.

Adobe Anywhere taps the cloud, lets low-power PCs edit video

Adobe Anywhere taps the cloud, lets low-power PCs edit video | M-learning, E-Learning, and Technical Communications | Scoop.it
Adobe Anywhere shifts the hard number crunching of video editing to a server, allowing even ultraportable PCs to edit as if they were workstations.

This sounds so great, and not just because it's an Adobe thing (and we all know I'm fairly pro-Adobe with many things). Why isn't Microsoft or Google on top of this, or are they and I don't know it? Or even Apple? The more that heavy processing like video is done in the cloud, the more that mobile is going to be an everyday for...everything.
