I'm in the same boat! I think that writing on the web at all on social media--especially to a professional audience--requires the kind of professional etiquette that one would use for any professional communications. The checklist here is very good. This is posted on LinkedIn, so you may need a LinkedIn account to view. But it's worth the read.
