Free Technology for Teachers: 5 Fantastic Apps for Digital Storytelling on iPads

Free Technology for Teachers: 5 Fantastic Apps for Digital Storytelling on iPads | Apps in Education | Scoop.it

"Digital storytelling is a powerful tool in the classroom. It is engaging for students and teachers of all grade levels and can be used across the curriculum. Most of all, digital storytelling gives students a voice and a way of communicating information in an authentic manner. One of the great things about digital stories is that there are no “cookie cutter” answers. Each student creates a unique piece that demonstrates their understanding. Digital storytelling on iPad can empower, motivate and engage students, helping them to make deep connections to learning."

Wolfram Alpha Launches Problem Generator To Help Students Learn Math | TechCrunch

Wolfram Alpha Launches Problem Generator To Help Students Learn Math | TechCrunch | Apps in Education | Scoop.it

"f you’re studying math or science, you are probably pretty familiar with Wolfram Alpha as a tool for figuring out complicated equations. That makes it a pretty good tool for cheating, but not necessarily for learning. Today, the Wolfram Alpha team is launching a new service for learners, the Wolfram Problem Generator, that turns the “computational knowledge engine” on its head.

The Problem Generator – which is available to all Wolfram Alpha Pro subscribers now – creates random practice questions for students, and Wolfram Alpha then helps them find the answers step-by-step."

How to Use Private Browsing with Safari for iOS 7 - OSXDaily

How to Use Private Browsing with Safari for iOS 7 - OSXDaily | Apps in Education | Scoop.it

"Private Browsing is an optional Safari browsing mode that causes no data from the browsing session to be saved, this means no cache files, cookies, or browsing history will be stored or collected in iOS, making for a fairly anonymous session on the client side. It’s a popular browsing choice for a wide variety of reasons, and it’s now easier to use on every iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, because you can now toggle the setting on directly in Safari, and without losing all existing Safari browser pages. This offers considerable improvements over what existed previously, but like much of iOS post the major 7.0 overhaul, it can be confusing to find until it has been pointed out to you."

Moving at the Speed of Creativity | How to Share Videos from a School iPad Cart | Apps in Education | Scoop.it

"I visited with a K-3 librarian today who recently received a cart of iPads at her school for teachers to check out and use with students. She was unsure how to share videos the students create and save to their iPad camera rolls, however, with apps like iMovie, Puppet Pals, and Sock Puppets. In this post I’ll summarize my recommendations to her, which involve setting up a special Gmail account “for the cart” as well as a YouTube channel teachers and students can publish to with the free YouTube Capture app."

"As more classrooms adopt mobile devices such as iPads, teachers and technology integrators are faced with the question: “What apps do I install?”

That is quite a hefty question too. There are over 90,000 iOS apps in the Education category of the App Store. Since apps that teachers can use fall into other categories too, the number of choices is well above 100,000. Does your head hurt yet?"

It is not the product/tool that determines if it ought to be added. What/how does it comlement ans supplement waht the teacher is trying to accomplish with each student. So i woud train the teacher in a few of these and leave it up to her.
