Enhancing the Learner Experience: 3 Tips to Make eLearning More Engaging

Enhancing the Learner Experience: 3 Tips to Make eLearning More Engaging | TechLib | Scoop.it

"Many of our clients who are just getting into eLearning give us an enchanting reason for finally abandoning the libraries of presentation decks that they have been building for the past decade or so. They want to find a magical place where they can control and standardize the content, but still have learners engaged enough to care about the topic, remember the content, and improve their on-the-job performance. ELearning can do that. Map iPhone Users In a City, And You Know Where The Rich Live

Map iPhone Users In a City, And You Know Where The Rich Live | TechLib | Scoop.it

"Our stuff often says a lot about us, whether we own a hybrid car or a station wagon, a MacBook Pro or an ancient desktop.  Among other things, cell phone brands say something about socio-economics – it takes a lot of money to buy a new iPhone 5 (and even more money to keep up with the latest models that come out faster than plan upgrades do). Consider, then, this map of Washington, D.C., which uses geolocated tweets, and the cell phone metadata attached to them, to illustrate who in town is using iPhones (red dots) and who's using Androids (green dots)."

I've seen lots of these 'Bloom's Mash Up's' lately - I guess it is just a matter of finding what works for you. I personally think that visually this pyramid style would appeal to Junior teachers, it's less fuss and would be less likely to cause information overload than the full circle style ones.

Should Schools Still Teach Cursive?

Stem Specialist's curator insight, June 30, 2013 12:00 PM

I recently had a conversation about the relevance of teaching cursive handwriting in schools. What do you think?

Jennifer Shackles's comment, July 9, 2013 11:22 AM
How can students read "primary" historical documents if we have generations who cannot read cursive? Only linguists will be able to. How do these students "write" and "sign" their names on official documents? It may not need to be stressed as it once was, but I think it is still a necessary skill.
R.Conrath, Ed.D.'s curator insight, August 3, 2013 7:48 AM
Cursive is very important because is helps develop motor skills. It's not just about pretty penmanship.
