Technology is changing the way we learn, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing. However, spending too much time using technology can significantly alter your ability to connect with the human world. There needs to be a balance, don't you agree?
Amanda Nandory's curator insight, March 14, 2013 8:00 AM

I think we are depending too much on technology that we aren't able to do things on paper or in our head anymore. Yes i agree Technology can be a good thing but i think that since we use it so much that its turning our brain to mush.

Reanna Ostreng's comment, March 14, 2013 3:26 PM
I agree that there needs to be a balance between technology and the human world. The article also mentioned that kids are not doing as well with critical thinking and analysis. If kids don't know something, they can look it up online. This can be good or bad, but it is hindering kids from thinking on their own.

How do Finnish kids excel without rote learning and standardized testing?

How do Finnish kids excel without rote learning and standardized testing? | TechLib | Scoop.it
The OECD’s PISA studies show Finnish students are among the best in the world in reading, math and science.

Via Dr. Susan Bainbridge
Bronwyn Desjardins's insight:

Dr. Harry Wong mentioned that Finland's educational model involves trusting their teachers. Think about it. When schools overmanage their teachers are they not taking their staff's focus away from teaching through the implementation of checklists and rigid process controls?

If the children in the classroom are learning then the teacher must be teaching, but this opens up a whole other can of worms: How do you measure the learning? What is learning - how does one define and measure it in a 21st century digital world?

Have a look at the Finnish method.
