Filedrop is a new free downloadable app for Mac, PC, iOS and (soon) Android which allows you to easily transfer any file from any two such devices by simply dragging and dropping your selected file over a hot box.

Once downloaded and launched Filedrop on at least two devices, you only need to drag and drop any file you want to transfer to the other devices onto the Filedrop hot box and accept the transfer on the receiving device, and you are done.

Zero interface. Zero registration or login.

Supersimple to use.

Excellent. Very useful. Highly recommended.

Free on PC and Mac.

0.99$ / 0.89€ the mobile app.

N.B.: In my tests, Mac and PC versions run reliably on XP and Mac OSX 10.7.5 but not on my iPhone 4 with iOS 6. On the iPhone I could only get a blank screen. On a second iPhone with iOS7 everything run smoothly.

Android Overtakes Apple In 2013 Tablet Sales With 68 Percent Growth

While the market share of the iPad is down (52.8% in 2012 to 36% in 2013), the unit sales of Apple’s tablets have risen from 61.5 million units to 70.4 million units. while many will cite the loss of market share and the number one position as bad news for Apple, I think those thoughts would be misplaced. Apple is selling at the high end, with a significant profit margin on the iPad and iPad Mini devices, and continues to dominate the profits made in the tablet market.

In any case they are still the leading vendor  on 36% market share. Samsung is in second place but their fleet of tablets only muster 19.1% of the market.
