Samantha Baird's curator insight, November 19, 2014 10:20 AM

Thanks to Scoop.it for pushing this article to me.

Although it was written in 2012 I have never heard of GeekGirlCon until today, just over two years later. This convention is still going strong and has just finished up its 2014 Con in October and already has dates up for 2015.

GeekGirlCon is a place where like minded females can get together and enjoy each others company as well as picking up some great information and swag on their favorite shows, games, etc. One of the highlights of this article from the Vancouver Sun is that the Con does not just focus on pop culture. There were various panels on women in science and technology as well.

Unlike larger cons there is a kinship at GeekGirlCon; cosplayer, scientist, or gamer, just come as you are and enjoy a great time with a bunch of kick-ass ladies.

If you want more information on this years GeekGirlCon or are looking forward to their 2015 Con take a look at their website http://geekgirlcon.com/

San Diego just got bumped down my bucket-list of cons putting GeekGirlCon on top.
