Mobile Devices: What Happens in an Internet Minute [Infographic]

Mobile Devices: What Happens in an Internet Minute [Infographic] | Tech in Education | Scoop.it

I rescooped this piece from my topic "Mobile Marketing Strategy and Beyond" because I think it has important information we all need to be aware of and hopefully will get you thinking about how you are going to repurpose your content strategy for the mobile audience.

This piece was written by Shelly Kramer along with an infographic that shows you the activity on the web coming from mobile devices, smartphones, tablets, iPads and the like. As we all know the pace is excelerating and as the author says, it's very exciting. Beyond the exhileration,  I selected this article because the information and questions she asks you are timely and relevant.

"Mobile devices and constant connectivity are drastically impacting marketing and business strategy.

**Want to know what happens on the Internet in one minute?"

**30 hours of video uploaded and

**1.3 million video clips watched on YouTube

**639,800 GB of global IP data transferred

**204 million emails sent

**Amazon rings up 83,000 in sales (yes, in one minute)

Best Practices for Laptops in the Classroom - ProfHacker - The Chronicle of Higher Education

Best Practices for Laptops in the Classroom - ProfHacker - The Chronicle of Higher Education | Tech in Education | Scoop.it

I have seen so many images of hundreds of students in rows facing frontwards in the traditional lecture hall with laptops in front of them and where the device is not linked at all to the learning design. Not surprising that these students who sit passively listening to the instructor talk spend much of their time on their laptops distracted with "other stuff" not related to the course.

Let's get our students out of the factory style rows and into "circles of learning" where students connect and network collaboratively on a project using their device as a tool to support them through a well designed digital learning activity.

In this ProfHacker Post, Mark Sample offers some good suggestions for best practice with BYOD in the classroom.

Free Technology for Teachers: Free Website Builder Wix Goes HTML5, iPad Users Rejoice! | Tech in Education | Scoop.it

Wix is a free service for creating and hosting beautiful websites. The is just one problem, it's Flash-based which means the sites aren't viewable on iPads. Thanks to a Tweet by Adam Bellow, I learned that problem is soon to disappear. According to a Wix.com blog post last Friday, Wix is moving to HTML5. That means that sites created in Wix will now be visible on all devices.
