Post-it Plus for Digital Sticky Notes - ClassTechTips

Post-it Plus for Digital Sticky Notes - ClassTechTips | TECH for me | Scoop.it
There are some great brainstorming and planning apps for iPads (sticky notes, GRID, Popplet) and a new app from the makers of Post-it Notes combines the traditional tool with a digital platform.  Post-it Plus is a super cool app that lets users snap a picture of their post-it notes and the app will recognize each individual sticky.  You can then move them around your screen and organize them into groups.  It’s a great way for kids to collect their stop-and-jots in one place whether they are using post-it notes in Reader’s Workshop or when conducting research for a writing project.

Each list will highlight a few apps that connect to the various stages on Bloom's continuum of learning. Given the size and current exponential growth of the app market, I will also assist educators in setting criteria necessary to identify apps that maintain the integrity of teaching for thinking."

3 Steps to Creating an Awesome Virtual Museum in Class - iPads in Education

3 Steps to Creating an Awesome Virtual Museum in Class - iPads in Education | TECH for me | Scoop.it

"You're spending an afternoon browsing the exhibits at an art museum. If you're anything like me, you'd probably appreciate the art a lot more if you could bring someone along that could explain the history and nuances of the pieces on display. Now imagine pointing a device at the painting and seeing it morph into a dynamic video giving you all the information you wanted about the art. Welcome to augmented reality.

Virtual reality replaces the real world with an artificial, digital environment. In contrast, augmented reality alters your view of the real world by layering it with associated digital information. Augmented reality uses your device's camera to view the immediate environment and display media when it sees an object it recognizes. It has been utilized as a marketing and informational tool by many industries. Using an augmented reality app, you can point your device at an advertisement in a magazine and get detailed product demonstrations. Aim it at a sign outside a house for sale and get an after hours virtual walk-through the property. There are also many ways augmented reality can be used in education."

An iPad Contract Designed by Students - Teachitivity | TECH for me | Scoop.it
n a 1:1 classroom, I regretted not having a digital contract developed with my students last year. There were many times last year where I wished I had something to pull out of my files and point to when a student wasn’t being responsible with their iPads. Thankfully I have this year to make changes! I wanted a contract that showed some student character to it so that it meant something to them. I think it’s very important that the contract isn’t pre-made by the teacher. Here’s how I started:

Free or low cost apps

A/Prof Jon Willis's curator insight, June 16, 2014 7:12 PM

Although this is a relatively trivial example, the idea of a Bingo approach to skills building is an interesting one - at UQ we're using a passport as part of engagement processes with Aboriginal school students visiting the university. For every activity they participate in, there is a unique stamp for their passport. The bingo card idea is similar so that across a semester, students fill up their bingo card with activities that build their skills in a range of domains, or across a range of technologies or tools.
