The curation comment is interesting... I think it's fantastic that students are able to gain these skills without the assistance of a teacher, but ultimately if they veer off the path or have been misguided, they will always need a facilitator to not only show students the tools but also give them some best practice ideas.

A very GOOD trick to use that is to show the students some tools and telling them that they are YOUR "Secret Tools" and give them the download link! Show them also examples which YOU created, BUT these examples shouldn't be perfect (even weak...) and challenge them to do BETTER, NOT TIME LIMIT to do that!!!

Wait and see and be SURPRISED ;)

Is Too Much Tech Bad for the Modern Teenager? [INFOGRAPHIC]

Is Too Much Tech Bad for the Modern Teenager? [INFOGRAPHIC] | Tech & Education | Scoop.it
This infographic provides some perspective on just how immersed the modern teenager is in technology.

Is tech saturation good or bad for the modern teenager?

Arguments can be made either way, but there’s no debating that today’s teens are more wired than ever. And digital permeates the lives of young people in general, too.

People aged 18-34 have an average of 319 online connections, according to a recent Pew Research Center study. That’s compared to an average of 198 connections for the 35-46 group, and the numbers continue to decrease from there.

Pew also recently reported that 63% of teenagers text message with friends on a daily basis, compared to 39% who speak on the phone daily and just 35% who interact face-to-face outside of school. Other research has found that text-happy teens send more than 100 messages per day.

Do Tablets Make Employees Better Multi-Taskers?

Do Tablets Make Employees Better Multi-Taskers? | Tech & Education | Scoop.it

n a survey of 610 higher education, state and local government, healthcare and business workers, CDW found that 84 percent said tablets make them better multi-taskers. That's interesting because when tablets first came out, many people said that the devices don't allow users to multi-task.

Other interesting highlights include these stats:

Tablet users say they gain 1.1 hours of productivity each day by using their tablets.More than half of respondents use their personal tablets for work. They can't live without email and Web browsing on their tablets, but are ambivalent about photo and video editing.

The rest of the survey results can be found in the infographic below.

10 Amazing Social Media Statistics [INFOGRAPHIC] | Tech & Education | Scoop.it
Did you know that Twitter is grabbing more new registrations than Facebook, with more than half of its entire userbase compromised of people who have signed up in the last year, compared to just 19 percent for Mark Zuckerberg’s baby?

What if I said that almost a quarter (23 percent) of Facebook users check their account five or more times each day, Twitter users are 33 percent more likely to be Democrats or – sorry Foursquare – that 74 percent of Americans are unfamiliar with the concept of ‘checking in’.

These, and several other amazing social media statistics, can be found in the infographic on social media statistics...

Infographics- An easier way to get backlinks to your site

Infographics- An easier way to get backlinks to your site | Tech & Education | Scoop.it

Infographics are trending on the internet. There are used as a backlink bait by many of the popular brands. It serves as a dual advantage as it benefits both the creater and the user. The creator of the infographics is benefitted by getting a backlink to its website and the user of the infographic has an advantage of displaying visual friendly content on the site.

What are Infographics?

Infographics is short form for "Information Graphics". These are image visualization of data or information. It draws inspiration from Pictographs which are used as a picture language. Human mind accepts visual data more accurately and clearly than the raw text data. This concept relies heavily upon the creation of images which are used to convey complex data, graphs, information etc in an easier way before the audience.

Infographics are really useful in getting good backlinks to your website. The best way is to publish an infographic with a code to allow further embedding (The embed code contains the source of the image which is your website). People who visit your website would be able to see the embed link and if they like our picture, they would surely use it on their own website thus providing you a backlink. Moreover, you can even distribute your infographic to hundreds of specialized infographic directories thus increasing your chances of getting backlinks...
